All of these scared to be hit Europeans who float around the ICE have made the sport turn alittle sour the last couple of years but still fantastic sport . Ya thats right Europeans ! especially you Swedish fruits ? most of them are like 6,4 220 and play like women Its a disgrace don't get me started on Finland LOL

I agree, hockey is the fastest paced most exciting sport of all the popular choices. Nevertheless I don't watch sports except for Olympics and MMA. For some reason I just don't seem to care much about other sports.

As much as I love the UFC I would have to pick hockey simply because it is the Montreal Canadiens who would be the team in question. I've been an MMA fan since my pre-teens but I have been a Canadiens fan all my life.

I am not too familiar with some of the newer Finns in the league but some of the more seasoned vets are my favorite players, I mean come on
Jere Lehtinen
Teppo Numminen
Teemu Selanne
Janne Niinimaa
.. all hella good players and excellent at what they do. Alot of the differences in Euro and North American styles revolve around the more defenseve nature of European hockey, and with all of the new 'changes' to make NHL more 'exciting' for the average joe who knows nothing about hockey.. it is admittidly hard for the guys who play International style rules to adapt.
Plus, Lehtinen is one heck of a loyal guy, aside from his time in SM-liiga has spent his entire career with the North Stars, later the Dallas Stars. Met the guy when the Stars won the cup
Antero Niittymaki (sans injuries in the most recent season) is a good goalie AND the first one to ever score an overtime goal

Its a nasty trend in canadian hockey nowadays to bash on the european players. Persoanlly i think its crap. Everyone used to complain that euros were to scared to go into the corners and fight for the puck. Look at the Sedin twins. Those 2 guys are tiny (compared to the average NHL player) and where do you see them most of the time ? In the corners digging and fighting for loose pucks. It a cool thing to watch too , when those guys get down low there is almost no stopping them. Players get so frustrated with them that they usually end up taking a penalty. I think the whole stigma of eruo players being "pussies" is long over. Perhaps when they first started coming over it was true to a certain extent , just because they were not used to the very rough game that is played in Canada. But over the years they have adapted fine and become a great asset to the sport.

I guess some poeple just cant handle the excitingness because I dont even think it is considered one of the 4 major sports anymore. I think NASCAR took its position.
Really, I dont have anything against hockey I am just not a fan. I cant really get into sports ive never played before. There is basically zero hockey in WV.

Its not canada that makes hockey schedules, it's your americano Gary "the douche" Bettmen. But I'm sure they could work something out and accomadate one or 2 saturdays, I know the habs sometimes play on saturday afternoons or sunday's.

You must be a American lol I know I have Janne Niinimaa, Teemu Selanne, Teppo Numminen and Jere Lehtinen jersey's hanging In my room . I just hate how they focus on skating and stick handling and puck movment and want to do all those great things on the Ice but hate getting Hit and take dives all the time . I just never got how Europeans have crazy law enforcements and there Military camps are so hardcore the guys are always mentally tough and somehow there hockey players come out like Firgure skaters rather then hockey players .
P.S no hate Intended to anyone lol just views on a silly Ice game

Hockey is probably the last sport I'd ever want to watch on TV (except for golf). In person its a different story but then again so is baseball.
My point, MMA > Hockey.
