How come Spike doesn't show more UFC. - Fight Forum - MMA - UFC - Boxing - K1

Spike TV has the rights to the UFC and its on what two, three times a week? FSN shows a lot of Pride, and I was wondering, why doesn't Spike take advantage of this growing sport and make the millions they spent worth it and show more UFC. When TUF isn't on the UFC is dull on Spike. I mean they show Star Trek and CSI all day, and no UFC? Is it because they can only show it a certain times, like at night. I don't think so because they have had TUF marathons on during the day. Is it a liscensing or a copyright issue? I was just wondering and does anyone have an answer?

Simple, zuffa makes more money on a PPV than on a free event.

i think he ment air reruns of unleashed all day and all acess or inside the ufc.

The point Aika makes is very valid.

Let's also not forget about over-saturation of product. Put it on too much, and it will get very little ratings which is the driving force behind whats on. While the UFC gets decent ratings for cable, even re-runs of CSI get similar ratings. Put on the UFC a lot more, and the ratings will fractionate.

BTW, mainly due to the crap editing, the Pride show on FSN gets pitiful ratings. The product is excellent, but the editing of the fights suck and the fact that there is no set time for the show each week really hurts.

very true. As of the last month or so i have given up on the Pride show. I also have less time so that might be a factor. Your post was very spot on though.

i always wondered why everytime i turn to watch PRIDE shows they are never on even though i was pretty sure it was on at that time a week or too ago

that is very annoying, the editing sucks but a fight is a fight and i wanna watch em

they should at least show more UFC stuuf occasionally rather than Star Trek, because Star Trek is boring.

i will never understand how people watch the Trek... don't they know Star Wars are on VHS and DVD????

In my area Pride airs consistently on Sun Nites on FSN from 9-10 pm. The also have consistently aired re-runs on Mon. and then usually several other times each week before the "new" episode on Sundays.
