Here is a description of Tanner vs Franklin Round 4 :
Quote:
InsideFighting.com
Round 4
Tanner’s face is grotesquely swollen as the round begins. They come out striking once again. Tanner misses a big right hand. Franklin left high kick, partially blocked. Tanner presses, Tanner shoots, Franklin sprawls, works for a choke, but Tanner stands. Franklin is pounding him on exchanges. Tanner shoots. Franklin sprawls, knee to the face as Tanner stands. Tanner left hook. 3:30 left. Franklin left kick to the body. Tanner lands a body shot. Franklin is circling and picking Tanner apart. Tanner lands a good knee as I say that. Franklin clinch, knee, Tanner covers up. Franklin lands two shots and measures up a big knee. The fight at a distance.

Franklin two jabs. Three, four. Five. Tanner is bleeding horribly. Referee Herb Dean asks for a doctor to check the cuts. They waive off the fight.

Rich Franklin wins the UFC Middleweight Championship by doctor stoppage 3:25 of the fourth round.

Eilers lands a left hook high on the head. Arlovski lands a right uppercut. Eilers circles again. The champ jabs. He stalks. Eilers misses an inside leg kick. The champ lands a stiff jab. Arlovski lands a right. Eilers is bleeding more. Arlovski is calmly stalking Eilers.

One minute left. Eilers drops down after he jumps in. It looks like Eilers blows out his right knee because he instantly grabs it. Arlovski jumps on him and pounds away. Big John McCarthy instantly stops the fight.

Andrei Arlovski wins by technical knockout at 4:10 of the first round.

Do I get a prize? lol

My immediate thoughts after watching the event....hmmm

I wasn't impressed with Buentello that much. He had a harder time than he should have. Forrest looked good and played it smart. I thought he was going to try and slug with Mahood, but he didn't, which was a good choice. I would still like to see him face a little better opponent. Maybe my boy Vitor The Franklin Tanner fight went about as I suspected. I was a little surprised that Tanner could take so much punishment. Endless heart that guy has. Matt Serra gained a little more respect in my book. I thought Karo would walk over him easily, but he put up a good fight. Arlovski really looks unbeatable at this point. Even though Eilers blew his knee out, Arlovski was dominating. Frank Mir may want to take his grand ol time in coming back.

Overall, great event.

ufc 53 was great, I was there. my favorite fight was David Loiseau vs Charles McCarthy. you guys should of seen Loiseau's knockout spinning kick to McCarthy's midsection, it was great he just got the wind knocked straight out of him it was sweet, pure contact.

It certainly looked viscious. It was super fast and powerful. It hurt me just watching it.

Tanner must have really hurt Franklin with that right hand in the first round. In between the 3rd and 4th round, Rich asked his corner if it was the end of the first round. They told him it was the end of the third, and he was like, "really? how am I doing?" LOL

Default Not Impressed?

"I wasn't impressed with Buentello that much. He had a harder time than he should have."

I thought he looked really good. He overcame some early adversity and tapped his opponent with a one-armed guillotine! How often do you see that? Plus, I think his opponent was much more game than anyone figured he would be. I sure made that mistake!

After having only seen Buentello's 2 UFC fights, I'm quickly becoming a big fan. I would like to see him mix it up with someone with strong ground skills... maybe Frank Mir after Arlovski kicks Mir's ass!

"Arlovski really looks unbeatable at this point."

I agree! Then again, that's what I thought about Matt Hughes right before BJ Penn dominated him... Don't you love the unpredictability of the UFC?

I think Jordan tapping to that "one armed guillotine" had more to do with exhaustion than anything else.

Also I think Arlovski is a lot more well rounded that Matt Hughes. A lot of Hughes dominance stems from the fact that he cuts so much weight to get down to 170 so he is significantly heavier and more powerful than most welterweights he fights. Arlovski doesn't have that luxury. Right now the only possible weaknesses I see in Arlovski is a suspect chin and unknown cardio. While I don't think he has a weak chin, it isn't great either. His cardio is hard to guage because we haven't seen him in a long fight for a few years. Again, I don't think his cardio is bad, but I don't think it has really been tested yet either.
