Default The Dana White/Tito Ortiz saga

After reading Dana's last slating of Tito Ortiz and more to the point his involvement with Jenna Jameson im starting to think that this is just one big publicity stunt , i mean if Dana really hates Tito as much as he makes out then why the hell is Tito Ortiz still in the ufc ? it's not like he's considered a serious contender at the moment and the lhw division is in my opinion the strongest its been for years so what is going on ?

And he sells PPVs and tickets. I mean look how much hype his fight with Rashad had, especially for such a crappy fight.

Because Dana/UFC can still make money offa Tito,no other reason. Once Tito's $$$$$ power dries up he is gone from UFC.

Ok fair enough but if i went round disrespecting and bad mouthing my boss the way Tito does then id be fired for sure regardless of any contract.
It just seems to me at the moment that the ufc is going a bit wwe with regards to hype and publicity, another example is Bj penn and Jenns pulver.
They were all like "im going to retire his ass" and "we hate each other" n **** but as soon as the fight ended they announced that they were going to be training together. i just hope im wrong about all of this cos the day the ufc starts creating story lines for hype is the day i find something else to watch.

Its not like Tito and Dana hang around each other is it, so why would Dana care about Tito if hes making him money. It wouldnt be the best plan sacking someone who brings in PPV sales (even if it is for the wrong reason). Everything needs hype and publicity, if they want to sell the brand, thats a stupid argument why its like the WWE.

If we get weapons, 5 counts on submissions and bad storylines then yeah maybe its like the WWE but it isnt. Most of the fueds between peaople are real like Tito, he hates most people, because hes "number 1." Also when you are going into a fight with someone you dont want to be friends with them, that could put you off of the fight so if they something abd about the fighter it may change their mentality, if you know what I mean .

My personality, I can fight someone and train hard and still like them. There are some that need to build up dislike/hate. When you spent your energy and the fight is over it's weiord but it's like you are releaved and come to terms kinda. In a well fought type fight, the respect you think you didn't have can be gained by giveing and takeing the best each other can dish out. It's the same in alot of different sports. Not just MMA.I guess you can say in competetion in general. IMO
Also just to state it might be that Dana can't fire him. A contract is a LEGAL binding. According to what it says and how it's written up. And you better believe that the big boys Cro Cop and Liddel, Penn, and Hughes Contract isn't the same as a swick, Terry Martin, etc..... WarDawg

He can't fire Tito, but he could have him Fight Gabe Rudiger and burn that last fight as one nobody cared about. Or he could have him fight Rashad Evans in another snoozer........ Oh, Wait a minute, that's what he's doing!

Tito looked great the first couple rounds of that fight. I dont think it was a snoozer. If Tito can stay strong the second half of this next fight he should win it. WAR TITO!!!

It's all about money. Dana said that in the EPSN SPortsCenter interview before UFC 73. "He's still a fan favorite, he still has a large following. I dont like him, but he still attracts fans".

Translation?

The UFC can't afford to live without Tito as long as that fan base still buys seats and PPVs

He does, but I believe that following is FALLING. Back in the day, he talked trash and backed it up. Now, the newer viewers see him talking smack, hyping his fights, and not back it up so he's just like an average fighter.

In the Rashad fight, he didn't attack with the killer instinct he used to have and he cheated. Plus he tired out.

Now with all that said, I am a Tito fan, and I believe if he can come out and beat Rashad in a dominating fashion (and I hope he does), he's right back in the game!

I don't think he likes him but he is popular and that makes money. I don't care to much for that kind of fighter but as long as it is just one or 2 fighters that have "antics" I'm not bothered by it.
