I doubt they would have gotten the TV deal as soon as they did had it not been for Tito making the sport more mainstream.

Tito, Royce, Chuck, and Ken were all important in their own ways. Royce opened peoples eyes, showing them that boxing is not every thing. By having pro wrestling experience, Shamrock converted some wrestling fans into MMA fans. Tito was the young, mouthy champ who everyone either hated or loved, but nevertheless wanted to watch. Chuck is probably the face of the UFC today. Pretty much every fan, be it hardcore or just casual, knows who he is.

i cant help but wonder about griffen and bonnar. although i would suggest they shared the most important fight at tuf finale (arguably anyway), it took those two guys to have that fight and to help the ufc bust onto the shared consciousness of television viewers.
maybe, maybe not. its a toss up, but it seems it was their fight and not their works, persona, character or devotion that helped the ufc so much.

Yeah this is very true. I think the whole TUF series can be acredited for helping the UFC become what it is today, but I have to think that their fight really brought in the fans.
