Josh Burkman vs. Forrest Petz at UFC 77?
Quote:
“The Ultimate Fighter 2” cast member and UFC welterweight contender Josh Burkman (8-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC) will likely face Forrest Petz (13-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at Cincinnati’s UFC 77 event on Oct. 20, UFCjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, MMA news, UFC rumors, UFC gossip, fighter interviews and event previews and recaps - UFCjunkie.com) has learned.
A source close to Petz informed us of the possible bout on Friday. However, a source close to Burkman told UFCjunkie.com early this morning only that the fight “has been discussed.“
Petz lives and trains in Cleveland, Ohio, which is located about three-and-a-half hours north of Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena, a 19,000-capacity facility that will host UFC 77.
On Wednesday Burkman announced that he would next fight at the Queen City show, which will be Ohio’s second of 2007. Since his time on “The Ultimate Fighter” series, Burkman’s become one of the most well-rounded 170-pound fighters in the UFC and even was on the verge of breaking into the welterweight’s division’s top five before a disappointing decision loss to Karo Parisyan at UFC 71.
Petz, who first began fighting in 2003, made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 6 and defeated Sam Morgan via unanimous decision. It was a dominating performance that earned Petz winning scorecards of 30-27, 30-26 and an unheard-of 30-23.
In the next UFC Fight Night event, he lost to Marcus Davis with a first-round submission via guillotine choke (with just two seconds remaining in the round). He then dropped a unanimous decision to Kuniyoshi Hironaka at UFC Fight Night 9 before bouncing back with his own unanimous-decision victory over Luigi Fioravanti at UFC Fight Night 10.

I don't really like Burkman, but I do think that he is going to win this fight. However I'm going to be rooting for the "Meat Cleaver".

I think Burkmans > petz imo. Burkmans got great striking, wrestling, and submissions. In other words, very well rounded. He only looked bad in his last fight because he was fighting karo parysian.
