Default Matt Hughes: "I would beat Kos easier than GSP"

Matt Hughes: "I would beat Kos easier than GSP"

There is a very interesting conversation going on over at the Matt Hughes Forums. Here is the question asked:

Quote:
Matt I was just wondering who you thought would win when GSP and Kos fight as well as when BJ and Sherk fight. Both GSP and Kos have talked a little crap in the past so I was also wondering if the person you want to win is different from the person you think will win. As far as the BJ vs Sherk fight, you have fought both in the past so I was wondering how you see this fight going? Thanks
And here is the response by Matt Hughes:

Quote:
I think GSP will win the fight. He has so many more ways to win. All I see Kos doing is taking him down and holding him. If he can take him down. Kos might be the better wrestler, but that does not mean the he will get the takedowns. Who can do takedowns in a fight not on a wrestling mat. I think I would beat Kos easier than GSP.

I think Sherk wins this fight. He will be stronger, better shape, and confident. I do not think BJ can stop his takedowns, and I do not think he can submit Sherk. Sherk will be in so much better shape. I was not impressed with BJs cardio in the Jens fight.

The only advantage Sherk would have over BJ is conditioning.

Bwahahahaha, I guess BJ was supposed to run laps around the Octagon after he completely dominated Jens.

Penn was in good shape relative to what shape he is usually in, which is a rounded one. I'm not sure that Sherk could beat Penn in a standup war. However it would be a good match.

I agree with Matt's low opinion of Kos, but considering BJ beat him once, and beat him in the first round of their next fight, compared to Sherk who failed to beat him in their fight, Matt should fear BJ more, imo. Plus Sherk's recent success possibly is suspect- he might not come back with the same ability.

I'm confused by what you just said. Are you saying that BJ beat Koscheck once? Because, they never fought. And, who beat who in the first round of their second fight? BJ lost to Hughes in the third round of their second fight. And, Sherk never fought Penn. Sherk fought Hughes back in 2003, and Sherk lost that fight. So, Hughes is 1-1 with Penn and 1-0 against Sherk. Your statement was very confusing with that one long run-on sentence and a bunch of pronouns.

Yea it was a good read until he said BJs cardio wasnt that great in the Jens fight, I mean sure BJ isnt got that great a cardio as say, the Flash or the Hulk, but in that fight his cardio seemed to be around 300% up from his last, and if rumour be true that will again be even better next time we see him.

But the GSP/Kos call was perfect.

I think what he meant to say was ...... BJ took the first round from Matt the 2nd time they fought. Id actually say he took the first 2 rounds before he got injured or gassed (however you see it).

I agree with Hughes on the GSP vs. Kos breakdown. However i gotta disagree with how he sees the Sherk BJ fight going. I think BJ can sub anybody givin the right situation. I can see Sherk winning if the fight was to go more than 3 rounds , unless BJ's cardio is getting better as he claims it is. It looked better in the Jens fight , but i think Sherk would put up much more of a fight than Jens did.
