Wanderlei Silva offered $750,000 for a fight with The Iceman!!!
According to Chute Boxe fighter, Wanderlei Silva, Zuffa offered him $750,000 flat fee for a fight against Chuck Liddell. Wanderlei refused the fight with Chuck but not because he doesn't want to fight the former UFC light heavyweight champion. The former Pride middleweight champion is willing to fight for a smaller flat fee but wants a percentage of the PPV as he feels that the draw, for this fight, is not just Chuck, but the long-awaited match between himself and Liddell. Wanderlei also added that he expects the fight to take place later this year.
The Brazilian is looking forward to returning to action and performing again for the American crowd but he would like to be in the best shape that he can in order to put on a great fight for what he feels could be the biggest fight in the history of MMA.
Wanderlei has no doubt that a fight with Chuck Liddell will take place, and expects it to happen in November or December despite Liddell's upcoming fight with Keith Jardine.

I think that Wanderlei has got his head screwed on, he realises that the PPV draw for this fight would be huge. A smaller flat fee and a percentage of the PPV would be a massive pay day for him.

Definately, Chuck'll no doubt get a slice of the PPVs so there's no reason Wanderlei shouldnt too.

Why is this fight that much bigger than other huge headliners?
Good idea by Wandy though.
Funny if Chuck gets knocked out by Jardine though!
I reckon it will be at UFC 80, as a big headliner.

I'm wondering what the undercard bouts will look like if that ends up being the case. We'll see if Dana shells out some cash to have a \nother huge fight on that card or if he cheaps out.

Funny how the UFC gives him like a huge flat fee. $750,000 is tough to refuse, they were hoping that he didnt realize he would make much more with a percentage of the ppv. Hopefully they can come to an agreement and something like that doesnt stall the fight now.

you make it sound like they were tryna dick him out of money, in reality they probably lowball everyone with their offers, its up to you and your manager to get yo chedda straight cuz the UFC has its interests at heart no matter who you are

I recall that Matt Hughes mentioned few days ago in an audio interview that they [UFC] don't do ppv percentage to fighters anymore.. Tito will not have that neither if he renews his contract..

Dang, for a non-title fight?????
That's outstanding. Considering what both Jackson and Chuck made half a million a piece for their fight in May?

It is impressive how universally liked and respected Wandy is, even after his recent loses. If Chuck had postponed the fight and had issues with the money on a contract like this, he would be 'running'.

^truth, sadly
i feel a fighter should protect his interests and not be villified by a bunch of internet posters
and certainly hate it when "fans" pick and choose which fighters to pin which motives on...they are so stuck on WWE that they must constantly decide who is a HEEL and who is a FACE

Because this has been in the making for a few years now. And all true MMA fans really want to see this fight. I think it will be the most anticipated fight in MMA history.

Agreed, I am just amazed as this passes Wandy by like this. More credit to him, nobody questions his motives. If Chuck did this it would be him and Dana (Mr. McMahon) behind it all lol.

Hell yeah! You ain't kiddin'! I'd happily take my beatdown! I'd just make sure to tell Big John or whoever else was reffing to not hesitate to stop the fight. Don't bother letting me try to fight (or more accurately, flail) my way out of it, just stop it. For the love of God, stop it!

It's a lot of money to those of us who get up every morning to go normal jobs and put in 40 hours a week. However its peanuts’ compared to the 20 million that Mayweather and De La Hoya got for their fight. If the UFC is bigger then boxing why aren't their fighters getting paid more like boxers!

I do agree that UFC fighters should be paid more, especially the lower tier fighters, BUT I do not wish to see them paid the amounts boxers do. This would mean that fighters would not fight at the same frequency that they do now. The top guys would probably only fight once per year and that would suck, I think fighters should fight 3 or 4 times per year (as long as they are not injured). I think the undercards should be paid at least $5,000 or even $10,000 per fight. The top guys should earn around $1-2 million per fight.
