Whats with these broken bones. Couture and now Stevenson also. I hope this doesn't keep him out too long and affect his chances of getting a title shot.

This happened in the first round, and he toughed it out for another two, which is pretty impressive.

I dont doubt it. I think in the first round when Joe was on the ground and Kurt whacked him in the mouth with that shot from standing position?

That was a brutal punch and made me have a newfound respect for Stevenson. Because taking a punch full blas from a dude coming down from standing?

I'm glad that all Joe had was a broken jaw and not something else.

It says further down in the link that Joe stated in an post fight interview that it was his nose that was broken and not his jaw ? either way big respect for him for continuing the fight and taking the decision.

Its stuff like this that makes me have even more respect for MMA fighters such as these guys.

However the broken nose could be true, it was only said by someone who posted it saying they heard it so you never know if it is true. A lot of the time when you get a broken nose it at least bleeds a little bit, and I do not remember any blood from stevenson during that fight.

I've known quite a few guys i used to play rugby with that have broken noses, jaws, finger or toes, and have never said anything to the coach so they could continue playing the rest of the game.


Joe seemed to blab on quite a bit at the end for a guy with a broken jaw.

you could easily tell somethin was wrong with his jaw in the post fist cuz he was slurrin like crazy
