Josh Barnett Calls Out Couture, Calls Him 'Paper Champ'
The following is from Josh Barnett's MySpace blog:
Quote:
August 28, 2007 - Tuesday
UFC Heavyweight title? Not in my eyes.
Current mood: angry
Let's get straight to it and say that Randy did a phenomenal job at UFC 74 in defending his title. As a fan and a fellow Washingtonian I was happy to see him win. But as for the title itself -- it still sits in my house. No one in UFC ever beat me for it, and as far as I am concerned, no one in the UFC can be the heavyweight champion until they take that belt off of me in the cage.
At the post fight press conference, Dana White said "there isn't anyone in the world that can beat this guy" in reference to Randy. All this because Randy beat a guy that had less than ten fights and only one noteworthy win? That's not even a world championship level fight, let alone reason to proclaim the winner as "unbeatable". This comment was made even more ridiculous by the fact that I was standing right there, living proof that Randy Couture is definitely beatable.
"Unbeatable", Dana says. If he actually believes that, I'm more than willing to step into the cage and prove him wrong. It wouldn't even have to be for the belt. I already got the real belt. They can keep their pile of brass they purport as the UFC Heavyweight Title and put it on their next paper champ.
Josh

I would love to see Randy lay a beatdown on Josh Barnett for those comments or put him in with Gonzaga and see if he's a note worthy opponent or not.

Wow. I think Barnetts creating a stir so he can land a UFC contract make some big money and make an even bigger name for himself. I do like Barnett and have him on my myspace. He seems like a very well educated man. I wouldn't mind him in the ufc but he'll have to get by other top HW if he wants a shot at Coture. Plus Coture wasn't the same fighter as he was when he first fought Barnett. I'm sure Barnett improve too but the Octagon is Randys home. Probably would be a close fight and go the distance.

Is it me remembering bad or did Rogan say in UFC74 that they hoped Barnett would be/might be the next big sign up?
Look like they will get closer to an agreament soon.

Hopefully we'll get to see a rematch between the two. If Im honest, I see Josh winning again if it were to happen.

He says that there isn't anyone in the UFC who can beat him? He must have forgot about getting tooled by CC 3 times.

I guess Josh forgot he tested positive for steroids after beating Randy Couture.
Regardless, I think it'd be a great fight.
Dana, make it happen.

I don’t like the attitude of some of the fans who always like to complain. When they say if you had a quick fight that they wished it was longer and if you have a long fight they say you should have beaten this guy quicker. Some people you just can’t please. If it is so easy, they can put on a glove and do it themselves. I’ll watch them fight.

haha, so basically Josh's 'argument' has been completely nullified. He has lost to Cro Cop three times (who is now in the UFC). He tested positive after the 'beat' Randy. He's a good fighter but need to check his facts before he writes crap like this.
Ya know, it's seems as if the one's who are really good at running their mouth (Tito, Koscheck, Barnett, etc...) are not the ones with the Title's.
Randy doesn't have to say crap like this because Bruce Buffer says it for him before his fights lol!

^^^^^^LOL
Great, so now we have another average fighter running his mouth about how badass he is. First it is Tito saying he is going to KTFO of Rashad, then Kos saying he can beat GSP easily after only 1 big win (when even that sent everyone to sleep).
Having said that Dana saying Randy is unbeatable" is just plain crap. Enter Fedor. Randy has had two excellent wins, I am not disputing that he is the top of the UFC pile, and maybe 2nd top HW in the world, but until he fights and beats Fedor there is no way he can be no.1.
p.s- What has happened with the Fedor situation? Why isnt he in the UFC already?

i agree 100% i dont like the way dana markets fighters as unbeatable and invincible, imo it ruined chuck after his loss and itll happen to randy too when he loses, losses are a part of the gmae no fighter is above it
i wish hed not say things like that moreseo than his refrain from profanity on nationally televised venues

yowza, I just totally lost a ton of respect for Josh Barnett. Calling someone out is one thing, but completely ripping on them is another, especially if it's someone with as much class as Couture, he can't help if Dana talks about him so much.

Let the winner of Fedor-Couture fight Barnett. Let's see how he likes that.
I like Barnett though. The guy is a beast, always exciting to watch. Let's be honest, he beat Randy, always put up a fight against Mirko and took one out of two against Big Nog. The guy's no joke...
