Exclamation Brock Lesnar to Join UFC - Dana White

Former WWE champion Brock Lesnar, known to wrestling fans as “The Next Big Thing”, followed through on his promise to attend UFC 74. Lesnar said that he wanted to see the UFC heavyweight champion, Randy Couture, up close and person, but that was not the only reason Lesnar was in attendance.

Lesnar met with Dana White, who was very confident after his meeting with Lesnar.

“I am pretty much going to guarantee you right here that the UFC will get him,” said White. “Lesnar should have started with us, but we’ll be happy to have him.”

When may the former collegiate All-American start with the UFC?

“We are all booked up through 2007, but we would like to have him start after the new year.”

Well the HW division just gets deeper and deeper! Let's see if Lesnar can back up all that smack talk and pull out some good performances for the UFC.

So who do you think will be his first opponent? I'd like to see him fight Gonzaga or one of the bigger heavy weights, I really hope he doesn't get an instant title shot - that would suck with him having so little MMA experience!

GSP: “I think he hasn’t seen my fight with B.J. Penn.

If this true, Lenser can make some noise in the HW division. If the UFC gets Barnett, they should have them fight each other for their debut. Brock vs a big submisson guy, like Nog or Gonzaga would be great.

Yeah, Brock said he wanted the best. Give him Nog or Vera or Gonzaga or Cro Cop or etc.

Lesner is a seriously talented wrestler and he appears to be taking MMA very seriously. If he can get his standup to a respectable level, he could really do some damage in the hw devision.

He may be a solid wrestler but when you get punched/kicked in the face by some one just as big as you are it will change your outlook pretty quickly.

He is going to be coming up against some of the best HWs in the world and i don't think he will have a answer for them.

He has size and a fantastic wrestling background , but like so many before him he has more mouth then talent . I don't blame him for thinking he would be a monster In MMA he has been a monster In anything eles he has done , But that doesn't mean anything to anyone eles In the Heavyweight division. I do believe training with the proper camp could make him Into a serious threat though I mean perfect example Is big Tim that guy has no amazing strengths In anything his wrestling was meh , his striking especially his jab Is pathetic but he still was hard to control just do to his amazing reach and long legs and joining a fantastic camp . I think Brock will get a rude awakening but If the fans like him and Dana like him he still can come out of It with a giant name In the UFC .

I wish I could find that clip of him in the WWE doing a moonsault off of the top ropes and landing flat on his face. He got up from that instantly, dude has a hard head.

I want Brock to do well. But at the same time, I don't want wrasslin fans coming out of the woodworks or trailer parks (if you will) and sayin fake wrestlers>MMA athletes.

Lesnar vs. Arlovski for the first fight of '08. That would definately set the year off to a good start.

I wish him a lot of luck. I think sooner or later he is going to get any heavyweight down to the ground. But some of the HW's you may not want to get to the ground. He looked good in his first fight. It didn't look like he was trying to LNP.

I'm pumped. I think he's going to make some noise, I think he would beat a lot of dudes and even give the top end guys of the HW division some issues.

I doubt that. He has one of the best bjj trainers in Royce Gracie and he is a world class wrestler. He will be able to hold his own on the ground easily I believe.

I don't think we will see him fight anyone big very fast. I would imagine Dana will wanna milk his star power before risking him getting a loss.

I kinda think the opposite. If Lesanr turns out to be a flop Dana will want to get it over with very quickly before they spend any real time or money on him. It's gonna be swim or sink for Brock.

I think it is hard to say if they will give him someone good early or later. Dana may want to give him some easier opponents at first in order to try and build some hype.

There is an advantage to giving him a top ten fighter right off though in the sense that if he wins then you get some legit buzz about Lesnar right away, and if he looses then you can seperate mma and wrestling.
