Patrick Cote calls out Terry Martin
Patrick Cote calls out Terry Martin
September 10th, 2007
Patrick Cote tells FightNetwork.com that he wants the winner of the middlweight fight between Chris Leben and Terry Martin at UFC Fight Night 11 on September 19. Cote is fresh of a technical knockout (strikes) win over Kendall Grove at UFC 74 last month.
Patrick Cote:
Quote:
|
“I just don’t like this guy [Terry Martin]. He has a big mouth. Terry Martin has said he’s the next big thing at 185 and that he will be champion. He thinks he has heavy hands because he knocked out Jorge Rivera. But if you watch that fight, you see Rivera was already off balance and he caught him. He’s a one-dimensional fighter. He doesn’t shoot for the leg; he tries to trap you against the cage. I can use my reach against him, and I have good footwork and hands. It will be a long night for him if he wants to try and trap me against the cage.”

Well, I think it can be a great fight! Especially the stand-up!!
I just hope that Terry Martin beats Leben!

I'd personally love to see this fight, and I would root for Cote against anyone in that division - he might not have the best record, but he always goes into fights confident, and he's always willing to throw down, so any fight with him is fun to watch.

I think this would be an interesting fight. Cote is under-rated by a lot of people and I think he is better than a lot give him credit for.

I'm a big fan of Cote!! Especially when he TKOed Grove!
But if this fight happens, I gotta go for my home boy Terry!

I would be cheering for Cote in this fight, and I agree with everything he said about Martin. Cote is very underrated.

Yup, Cote is an excellent dude. He rarely talks smack and pretty much always puts on a good show.
I would be betting on Cote in this fight for certain.

only a very few people used too say cote was under-rated until he ko'd groves.
any fight involving cote/leben/martin match any of these three together and it will be a good fight id say

I thought Cote would have what it took to beat Grove and he impressed me in that fight. I think the only reason his previous UFC fight went to a decision was because of his nerves in not winning in the UFC, he had the chance to finish it. I'm looking forward to him continuing to make strides in this division.

It's good to see a lot of other people showing appreciation for Cote - For a while I thought I was one in very few people who was always rooting for his eventual success and continued growth at MW as well as in the UFC in general.

I think Cote is being hyped up a bit too much. I mean he really hasnt proven himself on a consistent basis. Ill take Martin, if this one ever happens.

He hasn't proven himself consistently, no... but the raw ability that he has deserves much more credit than its given. Even now, people still judge him based on his record, but he's capable of knocking out anyone at MW if he gets a good shot in. Unfortunately, his technical striking isn't good enough to tango with Silva, so I wonder if he'll improve soon enough to get a title shot.
