Perennial fan favorite and former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin will debut his new TV show tomorrow during an event at the Madison Theater in Covington, Ky.
Tickets to the event are still available for purchase.
Franklin’s currently shopping a TV pilot called “American Fighter” that spotlights individuals overcoming adversity in their daily lives. The goal is to have the show picked up by a basic-cable station. While Franklin’s career as an MMA fighter will play a part in the program, the focus will be elsewhere.
Joe Garvey, a 21-year-old from Indiana, is spotlighted in the show’s pilot episode.
“Joe’s story is a great story that shows you can do amazing things when you’re willing to fight and put in some hard work,” Franklin told MMAjunkie.com.
Garvey was injured in an ATV accident seven years ago and was told he’d never walk again. However, he eventually regained use of his legs.
“I was drawn into the story and show because it’s about everyday champions who face great challenges,” said Franklin. “It’s so inspirational.“
Tickets to the event are $25, and proceeds benefit Franklin’s Keep it in the Ring charity. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. and will include live music, food, a silent auction, a screening of the pilot, and a meet and greet with Franklin and other UFC fighters.

Awesome, I could actually go to that show. Thanks for the heads up Doc.
I hope he pounds Silva. Rich is such a down to earth, hardworking person. He deserves the title.

lol good one, btw we need more shows like this and less crap like everything else that makes it on air
Even though Franklin got destroyed by Silva he is still my favorite.. Didn't quite fall off the bandwagon like many did... Out of any fighter in the UFC I admire Franklin the most.. The way he carries himself and the amount of class he shows is very admirable.. I hope this show does well for him!!!
Not to be a downer or anything, but the Docs are usually right. You just don't hear about the people who don't walk again because no one does reports or writes stories about the guy who stayed paralyzed and lived the rest his life confined to a bed.Docs.....Always telling people they can't walk anymore then a bit later they are walking.
