I'm a fan of Vera, but I don't think this is a good match up for him. Tim is strong on his feet and if it goes to the ground his tactic will get improved by going over to xtreme couture and training with randy and his boys. I don't think the truth's muay thai will be enough to stop the big man.
tim is done for.
Like said spending 2 days at XC isnt gonna save him form the truth.
2 days isnt a camp or a gameplan, 2 days is a short visit and meeting some people at a new gym.
Thats kinda awkwrd. Tim's not training at Militech? Either way I hope Vera wins.
DOOOOOOOOO ITTTTTTT!
WAR GSP, WAR SPIDER!
Jaw sorry to say but vera over sylvia wont be an upset. No matter who tims beat theres still more people that belive the truth will pull it off therefore its no upset.
ive had a few people say that too me now.
I think ill be safe and take that off
yeah but i never even said it wasnt an upset.
I just said im taking it off b/c some people think it isnt.
I know for a fact its an upset but i think its close enough that it doesent deserve too be in there with my other upset's
I don't see Tim Training at Xtreme Couture doing much for him. He may learn a trick or two. But I don't think he's going to tought all Randy's moves, since Randy could face Tim again if Tim destroys Vera and maybe someone else. In other words, it would be fullish for Randy to teach another top teir heavyweight his skills. Tim is more than like just working on fitness while he's travelling around.
I think the only one out of the fights you have listed that is truly even an upset is Diaz over Gomi, and that was way before you even came on FF, so there is no proof in post form to to back that up. Now if you called Serra over GSP, or something of that magnitude, that would be something worth putting as your sig.
Anyway, I think that Sylvia is gonna take Vera 3 rounds, and win the decision. I see it being alot like the last Sylvia/Arlovski fight. Of course, with the way my predictions have been as of late, I'm probably better off betting on Vera. I highly doubt that Vera can KO Sylvia though. One thing you can't deny is Big Tim's ability to recover from taking a monster shot. The dude has a great chin.
A mixed martial artist should have a mixed arsenal.
St. Pierre - Penn - Lauzon - Florian - Torres
I once theorized in a thread that we would not appreciate Tim until he was beaten, and here we are. I like Vera, but there is a loveable "big lug" quality about Tim.

I honestly don't see that even if Vera beats Tim how that would be considered a big named opponent?
I still think people would down Vera for beating a Tim that's on the down-slope of his career.
As far as the training, it can't hurt Tim to be at Xtreme Couture, but I dont it'll be enough.
Vera is training with the best kickboxer of all time in Rob Kaman. Vera is gonna take Tim to school on his feet.
downslope of his career? he lost one fight to Randy Couture after a long and successful run as champ
thats a load, IMO
to the members who say that 2 days with a great trainer can't do wonders for your game. you have to remember that Tim Sylvia has been in the sport for along time working with a great camp, he is a professional who is certainly capable of picking of new skills very quickly especially when they are taught by a guy like Couture. Randy is a master a picking apart a fighters game and altering his to exploit its weakesses. In Tim's case all he needs to do is make small changes, nothing huge to see a differance.
Tim is nowhere near done with his career.

i agree but all the upsets i have listed where not slight underdog's.
very few people gave them a chance.
I have come around too agree that brandon may be a slight under-dog but doesent really classify as an upset. Allot of people think vera will win, not just a couple.I was wrong.
if Vera beats Tim it will indeed be an upset. Tim is an established UFC veteran and former UFC heavyweight champion. what has Vera accomplished in the sport? he beat Justin Eliers, a dumpy out of shape Frank Mir and Assuerio Silva, who by all accounts is'nt a bad fighter. he just has'nt done anything in the sport that made waves. This is Vera's first test against a legitmate UFC heavyweight who has been at the top. If Vera wins he is well on his way to something great, if he loses its not that big a deal as he'll be back to fight another day.
