Tim Sylvia Trains With Xtreme Couture
The Maine-iac Visits « Xtreme Couture MMA
Quote:
Big Tim Sylvia spent the past two days training at Xtreme Couture. Turns out Tim is somewhat of a fashion plate. He’s been in town for the Magic Show (where new clothing lines are debuted for buyers). Tim’s got some cool shirts coming out this Fall.
He’s also good buddies with Mike Whitehead and spent the past two days training with our Pro Team. Tim’s next fight is against Brandon Vera at UFC 77 on October 20th.

Does this mean he's training with Randy? That is pretty tight.

Yeah I'm pulling for him too. I am sure that if he did train with Randy the told him to look out for that over hand right. Tim is killer but has the over hand right hole that if he fixes will be back to a hard oppenent to beat.

Thats awesome, good for Tim. Takes a big man (no pun intended) to ask for help from someone who beat him and took his title.

He's gonna need ALL the help he can get. I wonder if Vera will have any Cage rust from being out so long? Hmm, I hope not. Should be a good fight none the less.

I hope if Vera loses, the cage rust issue isn't an excuse used by all his fans.
I'm not saying you will use it by the way Majestyk.

Tim Sylvia has never been KO'd and i don't think Vera will be the first. Vera is going to have to get Tim down and maintain top position, do a little GnP and maybe even pull of a submission which *used to be* Tim's weakness. Tim is certainly training with Randy and crew with the hope of avoiding being taken down from the clinch and kept on the bottom. Both guys have a tough fight ahead of them. whats good to see is that Tim is looking to patch up holes in his game outside of Militech.

tim sylvia is awesome to me, but the fact he trains at xtreme isnt a shock to me (i always figured Tim would gladly train with Couture)
its been said many times, but this will be the norm and not really threadworthy. its the shift of the sport and i think its fantastic (not that this thread isnt warranted!)

I think Tim did it just to be closer to the belt!
I am worried about Vera ring rust also but that is who I will place my points on.

you're right, there is no shock here. especially when you consider that Tim trained with Couture years ago when Randy was fighting guys like Ricco Rodriguez and Josh Barnett.

Well this changes my pick for the match anyone who trains with randy has a better chance to win.

If Vera doesn't knock him out, he'll outpoint Sylvia and earn a decision, IMO.
Brandon has better striking, wrestling/grappling, and he's more dynamic.
Tim has knockout power, but he has to connect to finish the fight. Thats gonna be tough to do against a faster guy.
Brandon by TKO or decision.

Tim will always be a Militech fighter. just because he is looking elsewhere to improve his game does'nt mean that he won't still workout with Pat and the other guys in Iowa.

Vera spent some time with Xtreme Couture as well over the summer and is with his trainer Rob Kaman and Rampage's trainer Juanito Ibarra as well.
I agree with Pitbull. Vera is too fast and dynamic and is extremely good in all three aspects of the MMA fight game.
If Tim rocks him as Assuerio Silva did, Vera will simply take it to the submission game.
I honestly think Tim is too slow to beat Vera. Vera is too solid up and down.
