More doom and gloom......
And apparently he doesn't rate Tito that much either.
Report: Dan Henderson spurns recent offer to extend UFC contract at UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and ticketsWith one fight remaining on his contract, former PRIDE FC middleweight and welterweight champion Dan Henderson has turned down a recent offer from the UFC to extend it, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Here’s the snip:
“The 37-year-old Team Quest fighter has one bout left on the Pride contract he brought with him to the UFC. White offered an extension, but Henderson didn’t bite. He thought the offer was low and chose to take the fight against Quinton Jackson at UFC 75 under the terms of his Pride contract, which left him with no opportunity for a fight bonus. Despite assurances from White that he would be taken care of in the UFC, Henderson is waiting for what he thinks is an equitable offer.”
Henderson recently dropped a five-round unanimous decision to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 75: “Champion vs. Champion,” which was designed to “unify” the two 205-pound UFC and PRIDE FC belts. It marked his first fight inside the Octagon since 1998.
According to the report, Henderson wants to fight in the UFC. However, he feels that he should be compensated better.
Here’s his take on the issue:
“It seems like guys could be happier. Part of the problem is that they had a couple, three bad shows and got killed in Ireland (at UFC 72) on the money. And, possibly the fact that they spent a boatload of money buying Pride and didn’t do anything with it; they are trying to make some cutbacks, and the fighters aren’t overly happy about that…. He [UFC President Dana White] was telling me that, ‘We haven’t had guys leaving. We take care of the guys, that’s why they’re happy. We don’t want guys that are unhappy’ … I haven’t seen that.”
“Dangerous” Dan has made some recent headlines with a rumored showdown with former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz sometime later this year or early next. However, at the recent opening of the new Miletich Fighting Systems in Houston, Texas, Henderson informed Brawl Sports that he’s not that excited about the match up.
Here’s a snip:
“It’s not the fight that I’d ask for. Beating Tito won’t get me a rematch (with light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson). I don’t think he’s top five (in the 205-lb. division). I’d have to beat at least a top three guy to get the rematch.”
Henderson is hopeful that he and the organization will eventually come to terms. In fact, he’s waiting for another offer to extend his contract.
If an agreement isn’t reached it would be a blow to the UFC middleweight/light heavyweight roster, as well as signal a major shift in fighter thinking on the heels of the stunning resignation (not retirement) of UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture.
Hmmmm... in a short period of time:
-Fedor signs with M-1
-Randy quits
-Arona signs with M-1
-Hendo wants more than what UFC is offering
And he was reportedly seen along with one Josh Barnett at Cuban's HDfights recently...
I think the UFC might have a serious rival soon.
More doom and gloom......

Greg Jackson: "I don't care. Hit him with it!"
Ya, the UFC definitely needs to spend more money on their fighters, and stop playing favorites.
Randy's leave will definitely allow for fighters to demand more money.
uh oh... maybe the fighters will form a union.. lol.
I hope Hendo will return back to the UFC but he has to do what feels right for him cause he is also not getting any younger. He is 37 years old and soon he will retire from the sport and he has to be paid well now not than later.

Maybe the UFC should wise up and stop trying to sell inferior cards.
Randy Couture: I’m more of a battle of attrition, take you down, beat you up till you really don’t want to fight anymore, type of fighter
BJ Penn: It's just the wrong time to fight BJ Penn.
ARE YOU READY?
ARE YOU READY?
LET'S GET IT ON!

"They (old school MMA fighters) weren’t there to be TV reality douche bags, and they weren’t worried about their hair. They were there to fight and win. These guys nowadays are just worried about being a TV star, and that’s gonna get your ass kicked." - Don Frye
everything is to mysterious right now. WVR i guess is the new Pride, M-1 got Fedor, but we dont know who bought M-1. Things are strange in MMA right now, we'll have to see what happens.
I wouldn't mind if Hendo goes to M-1. I'd like another MMA organization with top-ranked fighters instead of just UFC all the time. I'll be sad that some match-ups that I'd like for Hendo in the UFC won't happen, but I'd be OK as long as he puts on some good fights if he goes to M-1.
*still feels bitter that UFC dismantled Pride, and is happy when UFC suffers losses*

Eventually i bet they will sign him. But he can't really expect to fight once then get a rematch, especially with the division being so stacked. Other people have to get thei shot before he gets another one. It would be foolish of the UFC not to sign him. I think he shoudl drop down to MW and then focus his attention back to LHW after his MW title shot, but thats just my two cents. Hendo is a force but he shouldn't underestimate Tito, even if he is a superior fighter.
DOOOOOOOOO ITTTTTTT!
WAR GSP, WAR SPIDER!
I'd agree. Assuming M-1 and those unknown organizations don't get bought out by The UFC which isnt entirely implausible.

this is starting to look worse and worse of the UFC. it looks alot like they bit off more then they can chew. i really want to see Dan at MW and i think the UFC should try and convince him to do so. how about having Dan fight Anderson for the title and if he wins give him another shot at the LHW champ. i dont see how that can really hurt that much. the MW division is pretty dry right now and if Dan beats Anderson you could have Anderson pick off some of the semi contenders for a while before getting a rematch with Henderson. heres two scenerio's for how it could play out
Dan beats Anderson in Jan. Anderson fights Kampamann, David Terrell, and Yusin Okami in that order while Henderson gets his rematch shot at LHW title he will more then likely lose. i love him but he's to small for the division. either way though win or lose he can face Anderson after that long list of challengers who dont really deserve a title shot but shouldnt have to fight each other.
or Anderson beats Dan and you no longer need to convince him he belongs in the LHW ranks.

yes i agree. and really with so many in limbo right now it could be a very bad time for the UFC. M-1 is going to obviosly snatch up all the talent they can get but so is EliteXC and i imagine there gonna overpay some of there stars like they try'd to do with Brandon Vera. you could end up seeing AA leave the orginaztion for a better contract. i would love to see AA vs Fedor and thats a real possibility.

I think it's good to see fighters not let the UFC bully them around, and be brave enough to say "Screw you!" if they think they're being short-changed in the money department.
I also want Hendo to return back.
Gonna to be optimistic this about this and hope he'll sign the extension.
I desperately want him at MW to shake up that division..if they somehow lose him, UFC must sign Lindland.
YOU wa SHOCK!
