Secondly, you make it sound like Randy was the UFC's charity case. He had 18 of his fights there because he was champion throught the majority. And him not having a big career outside the UFC? Like I said he was offered a fight against Fedor elsewhere, his outside career was dulled due to his loyalty to the brand. And not every person switches around throughout companies. And yes Randy had a bigger contract than most of the UFC, because he was a 4 time champion coming out of retirement and has had some of the biggest selling ppv's in history. Giving Randy Couture "alot of exposure as a commentator" is a ****ing idiotic statement. He is a 44-year-old, 5 time champion, has a gym that guys are fighting to get into train with him. Sitting along Mike Goldberg was not what got Couture's name out to the public.

But again this had nothing to do with my point, I just questioned your statements about Couture's lack of integrity. But when I read this post I had to respond.
It sounded to me like you were saying that the UFC did not do much for Randy Couture.
"The man gives all proceeds from his store to the US troops, changed millions of opinions on MMA, and has been nothing but the perfect stencil for athletic roll models."
That's what I was directly responding to in what you said. Randy Couture did get exposure on national TV for the work that he did with the UFC both as a fighter and as a commentator. More as a fighter earlier on and then as a commentator when he retired. That exposure and the money he gained from stuff like sponsors that the UFC attracted is what helped Couture to be able to send charitable donations to whomever he wishes.

As for integrity, well I am speaking about the integrity that Couture put on the line when he signed his UFC contract. At that time he stated that he was happy with the deal. He had retired after two big losses to Liddell. And, he still had a bigger contract than 95% of the rest of the UFC roster. Couture wants the UFC to sign Fedor, but Couture did not want the UFC to pay Fedor what Fedor is clearly worth. And, Couture wants out of his contract because he wants more money and because Fedor was offered more money.

I just simply think that Randy Couture should have honored his contract, fought his two fights (Spring 2008, Summer 2008). And then, Couture could do whatever he wanted to do in any other promotion. Imagine if Couture retired after defending his title in two more fights. Or, if he simply did not sign a new contract with the UFC and went and fought Fedor in late 2008. Would a year really have been too long to wait, even for old man Randy Couture?

I do not, however, doubt Randy Couture's skills in the ring or octagon. As others stated, some of the Japanese fighters that Couture fought were better than I know. I was really pointing out Couture's wins against fighters that some American MMA fans would know by name. I am not as familiar with most of the Japanese fights as Aika and others are around here. But, it does not change the fact that Couture spent the bulk of his time in the UFC in big event fights.
