Randy Couture To Hold A Press Conference At X-Treme Couture
October 22nd, 2007

From a press release just issued:
“MMA Legend Randy Couture will hold a national press conference at Xtreme Couture Martial Arts to address his reasons for resigning from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in every capacity. Randy will respond to the comments made by UFC President Dana White. Additionally, Randy will respond to Yahoo! Sports report that he makes between $3.25 million - $3.75 million per fight, which they continue to stand behind. Afterwards, Randy will make himself available to answer questions concerning his relationship with the UFC, future plans, MMA as a sport or anything else pertaining to his resignation.”
|
I also heard from another source that it's gonna be held this Thursday 10/25
I'm really excited about this.. I'm sure that Randy is gonna clarify everything up and responds to the haters out there!
I'll post what goes on at the press conference in here later this week!

Update!!!
Quote:
The press conference Randy Couture has set up for Thursday will be broadcast live on HDNet, the cable channel today announced.
HDNet is an all-high-definition cable channel owned by billionaire Mark Cuban, who recently entered the MMA industry with his HDNet Fights promotion. The channel is usually available in special high-definition tiers of programming through local cable operators.
Over the weekend, Couture announced he will hold a press conference on Thursday, Oct. 25, in which he’ll explain the reasons he resigned from the organization earlier this month. The UFC heavyweight champion left his posts as a UFC fighter, part-time commentator, and legislative ambassador.
Although Couture has cited the UFC’s inability to sign top free agent Fedor Emelianenko as a reason for the resignation, the 44-year-old UFC hall-of-famer is also unhappy about his per-fight salary compared to other fighters’ paydays, including recent signees from the now-defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships.
Couture is expected to address a report from Yahoo! Sports that claims he makes between $3.25 million and $3.75 million per fight — figures that Couture denies.
HDNet will carry the press conference beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT. The event will be shown as a part of a special live edition of “Inside MMA,” an original weekly MMA news program that airs on HDNet.

I am also curious of what he would say about his contract with UFC, and his two fights that Dana says he is still "ours".

From what I've read, there is a difference of opinion on what Randy's contract is. Its been reported that Randy believes he has 9 months left on the contract before he's basicly a free agent. However, the UFC (Dana White in particular) states that they had Randy for a 4 fight contract and that no matter the time frame, Randy is still contractually obligated to the UFC for two more fights.
There is a good chance we will see Randy fighting in the courtroom before we see him in the octagon / ring.

If UFC v. Couture is going to the courts, then don't expect Couture to be able to say a lot about his case and his contract. My understanding is that people don't usually speak about an on-going case as its in court. Maybe its not there yet and Couture can talk about them. But, the most I expect is more of the same that we have already been told. And, he will just deny a lot of stuff. I expect this to be Couture just trying to make Dana White and the UFC look bad. Just more of the war of words type stuff.

This is A MUST WATCH!!!
Raw Vegas - Las Vegas video news, events, shows, reviews, celebrities, and more. Behind the scenes, on demand, video.
I don't care what you guys think!! Call me Randy's nuthugger or whatsoever..
I believe that his main motive to resign was the ongoing insults and the lack of respect he had from the Zuffa people..
And if you hear his words and you still think he's some kind of a lair or a manipulative greedy guy.. Then it's your business.. Because I don't have anything more to say here!!

He admited to presenting that offer to the UFC and accepting their counter offer to fight Tim. I'm sure they then told him Fedor would be signed to a deal anyway, might as well fight him as the UFC Champ. They didn't deliver and we're where we are today.
