Brad Imes on brock Lesnar and the UFC jump!
MMAFightline: You spent a lot of time with Brock Lesnar at Miletich. What where your impressions of him as an MMA fighter?
Brad: I think he's got a lot of potential. His stand up is really kinda nonexistent, but he's obviously a big powerful guy. And his ground game...I know, he's a D-1 national champ but I think he's pretty rusty as far as his ground game. I was able to pass guard on him, mount him, do whatever I wanted with him on the ground really. And he really didn't feel that strong to me, granted I don't grapple with anyone that feels strong to me. But, I think that one of his strengths when he was in college was that he was much stronger than everyone he went up against; and heavyweights, no matter what the sport . . . it is hard to find good ones. So, I think if he sticks with it he'll be great. I just think it was a mistake going to the UFC so quick. And I say that from someone who knows.

Brad Imes vs Brock as a first fight?
Brock is a relative unknown entity in MMA and Brad hasn't done so well in the UFC, so it should it could be beneficial for them both.

Bas Rutten: Why's he getting the standing 8-Count?
Stephen Quadros: Well, he's getting his ass kicked.

I remember when someone posted on the UG that Hughes had choked him out, and Pat Militech came on real angry saying that what happens in the gym stays in the gym. Wonder if this is gonna bother him.

Haha, word... Imes via gogo for sure.
I'd be surprised if Hughes (or the other veterans at MFS) never had choked Lesnar out.
C'mon, the guy was a rookie when we went there. And he still is new to the sport. And when you roll, you sometimes get caught by a lesser fighter as well.
Not a big deal.

I'm not sure I believe Imes. He is a B level fighter who was let go from the UFC, do I sense a little bitterness maybe?

All this kinda reminds me of that movie about Capoeira "Only The Strong", where the bad guy is getting ready to kick the crap out of the good guy who thought he was too good (Mark Dascacos).
Bad Guy: "We're gonna find out REAL QUICK, who really is the Capoeira Master, in this neighborhood." (Cue Zoom Zoom Zoom music).
I feel that about Brock Lesnar.
We're gonna find out REAL quick if WWE wrestling translates into MMA dominance.

HUH?
Why are all these people refusing to acknowledge Brock's collegiate wrestling skills by trash talking him as just another WWE wrestler?

It's not that. But if he thinks that JUST because he was a great collegiate wrestler and JUST because he's big and strong?
Join the UFC club. Cause that's about 95% of the MMA fighters in The UFC. Only they have a huge head start in having fought in Real MMA bouts for years in most cases.

MTKrav, I really can't take it seriously when you're questioning Lesnar and praising Tito at the same time.
"The difference is Tito has talent..."
And that "ultimate fighting"-quote from Tito.
You do realize that wrestling is pretty much everything Tito does in the octagon?
And you do realize that Lesnar's wrestling credentials are far superior to those of Tito?

I'll be totally honestly on this one. It's going to be a gong show. Seems like a slick marketing idea. From a fighting perspective, it's going to be an embarrassment. No to degrade Broke, but elbows and fists and knees is a different world. It's called shock and awe. I just see this as a sideshow and nothing more. It's not like here comes a quality fighter who can be a top contender. Not going to happnen. Well not unless he is going to be 40.
