Talking Bisping "fans in Newark can go to hell"

Quote:
Steve Cofield’s got the audio of Michael Bisping saying the fans in Newark can “go to hell” at the post-UFC 78 presser.

Now, the question is, was he kidding? Cofield didn’t think so:

The Brit was asked for his reaction to being booed often by the fans in Newark before and after the event. Listen to the clip below. He said they can go to hell. It didn’t sound like he was kidding. And it did put a slight grimace on the face of UFC president Dana White, who was standing behind Bisping.

After listening to it myself, it sounds like Bisping’s just frustrated. He may have meant it a little, but it doesn’t sound in any way spiteful towards the fans. Putting a grimace on Dana White’s face, however, is never a good thing.
source: Five Ounces of Pain | Michael Bisping: fans in Newark can “go to hell”

Someone needs to advise Bisping on public speaking.... Quotes like that can get taken out of context, lol

He could have been joking. Lets say he was. This is not the first tirade by him though. He has shown in the past that he is not only a poor winner and a poor loser.

Sorry to go a bit OT here but one thing that made me chuckle watching the Bisping/Rashad fight is when Mike's getting vaseline'd up by Stitch just before entering the octagon.

Right behind Mike and Stitch there's a fat bald white guy in a green t-shirt who is watching Mike get ready, and the VERY SECOND Mike turns around to hug his team-mates, this guy is giving the 'thumbs down' sign to the camera.

You can even see him keeping a beady eye on Mike to make sure he doesnt turn around while he does it lol.

IMO That type of fan can go to hell.

Bisping's not used to losing. This is two in a row for him...he's gonna be cranky about it.

I saw that too. Thought it was pretty funny because the guy looked kinda nervous as he was doing it.

As long as the audience is a bunch of retards screaming "USA" he can call the fans whatever he want the way I see it

Did you all notice how fast Dana White is running over to tell Bisping to be nice to the fans after the match Don`t say anything about the booing, just be polite no mater what etc. LOL

Then it looks like you will be sick for a long time. Really...get over it.

I'm sure I wouldn't do it but who cares. It's not worth making an issue out of after EVERY American event.

If an event was in Finland and Gooner was in the crowd wearing a speedo with the words "Finland Rules" on his ass I would care less. It's just national pride...even if it is liquored up national pride.

yeah, i kind of see it with national pride, if we were figting in the UK it would be ok in my eyes for the fan to be chanting UK UK UK UK!!!!! It's just pride in their nation's fighter. It's just unfortunate that right now most of the events are in America.

It is called national pride. During pride fights the Japanese fans tened to cheer and chant for the oriental fighters more so than the American fighters. It is nothing personal. Yes the fans were cheering for Rashad and jeering Bisping. Yes it was because he was American, but that was all they had to cheer for. They could not cheer for his lackluster win.

The way the fight was set up had a lot to due with it also, England VS. USA, if they have a USA vs. Russia set up. The Differences gives two sides to the fight. It draws in the American crowd who wants to cheer for their guy and the English or whoever crowd to cheer for their guy. Its business, for the show, and most importantly it's not personal. Those fans do to know these fighters on any level so they relate to what they can and chose their fighter that they will cheer for and boo for.

I think it's a disgrace that ANY fighter should have to endure being booed. Surely it should be fan etiquette to respect the sheer amount of hard work and effort each fighter goes through in preperation for their match. The most recent one, for me, was when Anderson Silva fought Rich Franklin at UFC 77 and Silva was booed all the way to the ring and after the match, Franklin couldn't have backed up Silva more with the way he asked the crowd to respect all fighters who come to the Octagon...and Franklin was speaking to his home town. Well done to him.

It's real men, real fighting, sustaining real injuries for your viewing pleasures. Show some respect.

First off who cares if he told the fans to go hell? Isn't he intitled to his emotions and own opinion? Besides from what I have been reading they weren't cheering for him anyway so why should he have to like them?

I am sick of all this be nice to eachother crap in the world. The fans should be able to boo whoever they want and the fighters should be able to say what they want. Why are we trying to censor eachother?

They censored all the drivers in nascar with fines and points docking and what did we get stuck. A bunch of boring interviews and boring post race antics. Back in the day before all this crap when the drivers true emotion was allowed to be seen it was infinately more interesting.

I am afraid that the ufc is already far down this path of boring cookie cutter interaction.

Believe me censorship is boring so don't feed the monster!

As for USA USA. Again who cares. In england they were definately cheering for the English fighters much more than anyone else. This is just human nature and I think it makes an event more entertaining. I am sure if the Brits had a easily chantable thing along the lines of UK UK they would do it to. Remember now we did fight two wars against eachother. That may have been awhile ago but there is still something there.

Finally for the brits on this board what do you guys chant at say the world cup? You have to have some nationalistic chants for the soccer matches.

I dont think their are many people that would agree with disrespecting fighters. But the whole Typical American Audiance and Americans chanting USA thing being brought to the forefront. Its about who vs who no matter what u replace the who with. Fans will always have some reason to relate to some fighters. Bisping being an English fighter from Lancashire vs. Rashad American fighter born in New York, the UFC show being in the United States, plays a large part in the crowd relating with the American fighter. Im sure when Matt Hamill lost in London he knew the crowd favored Bisping. The crowd was not holding American flags in the stands.

The booing or jeering in my opinion is the crowd trying to somehow feel like they are influencing the fight and affecting the fighter they are not for. Yes it is disrespectful in any sport, But I dont think as posted before, should be limited to the American audience only. I think it happens everywhere.

These are grown men and fighters. I think they should be able to tolerate chants and booing. If not they need to get thicker skin. They are in the spotlight and are going to be under more scrutiny. It comes with the territory. I do not want to start seeing people sitting on their hands and sipping their beers during the fights engaged in educated conversation.

LMAO there is definate laughing after it was said, and he explains it after. Everyone get off the Bisping hate wagon, I mean I don't know how that can be taken out of context, he is obviously trying very hard to hate Bisping, and trying even harder to get everyone else to.

I could care less what Bisping said to the crowd he just put in 15 minutes of fighting which is 5x as much exercise as those NJ sweathogs see in a year. someone tell that picking up a beer and hot dog is not exercise. Bisping after being booed has ever right to tell them off. Just a bunch of uneducated fans who only want blood and guts.

If Bisping would take some pointers from our good friend Matt Hughes about professionalism we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

Are you saying that comment that this thread is all about made you not like him even more? That comment didn't make it easier for anyone not to like him, because he said nothing there to really make anyone dislike him, he told it how it is, without offending anyone whatsoever.
