Bisping "fans in Newark can go to hell"

To be honest if i was getting booed i would act exactly the same way, im not just saying it cos Mike is from the uk and one of my boys but i hate to hear any fighter getting booed, when they were booing A Silva after he beat Rich it was totally cringeworthy, even Rich looked uncomfortable .
America needs to realise that mma is an international sport and here in the uk we respect fighters from every part of the world, there is no need to boo, im not dissing Americans as people but this hole booing culture you have is just plain offensive. you don't always have to have a good guy and a bad guy unless you are vince mcmahon of course but then again them guys are just actors and are paid to get booed, real fighters just get paid to fight so it's time you showed other nationalitys a little respect when they come to your country to entertain you.

Frankly, I don't care what Bisping says. What do you want him to say after being booed? "Thanks for the support"...Sure, he acted like a dick after the Hamill fight, but the only person it hurts is himself (marketability wise in the U.S.)

I can just feel Tito Ortiz waiting to capitalize on this...First Matt Hamill, now this...

Rockem Sockem I have yet to watch the nervous laugh and I have no intentions of watching it because it makes no sense to me to watch it. I saw all I needed to see and hear after his fight with Hamill. I think the guy is a punk and that they should feed him to wandy.

That however does not take away from his right to complain about the fans if that is how he feels. I can definately respect a man that speaks his mind but not one who punks himself out by saying "all the right things". By speaking your opinion I can respect a fellow man provided he sticks to his true feeling even if his opinions are different then mine, That is to me the basis of democracy.

As for "being mean" can we please grow up and act like adults. If I ever complain about people "being mean" please shoot me with a ten gage 3 1/2" 00 buckshot round in the head because my whole purpose in life is a joke. Lets grow up people. If these fighters can get in the ring then they can deal with people booing them. The truth is that in the real world people are sniping you constently to gain position. If these fighters can't deal with a little adversity then they are not even close to warriors and deserve no more respect then the common gym rat at your local establishement.

As for booing your opponent that is definately an american tradition. I am sure that a similiar way for showing your disaproval for the "opposing" team/person exists in most countries.

The real question I ask myself is does anyone that watches mma have any balls anymore. I can honestly say that in no other sport have I seen so many cry babies (the fans) complaining about so much crap that means nothing. I have yet to see or hear a fan of college/nfl football cry about how the opposing teams fans booed their team. Grow up kids and stop bitching about nothing. Life isn't rose pettals. Atleast pretend like you got a pair.

For the record this is not directed at rockem sockem this is more of general statement to mma fans in general.

If this doesn't make sense I apologize because it makes sense to me right now but I am just a little drunk right now so cut me some slack. it is afterall going on five in the morning and the booze is probably distorting my litterary and gramatical skills right now. Sorry folks but this is what you get after my pitiful detroit lions have done what they have done the last three weeks.

I hate people with your mentality. And every time i try to respond to you i find myself acting like an ******* because that's how i respond to assholes. That's not who i want to be. So i'm going to agree to disagree here and just say i feel the world would be much better off without people like you.

and for the record my lions have cost me pretty much all my points on this forum in the last few weeks. Thank goodness it is just points and not real money. Let that be a lesson to all the kids at home. Don't bet on the nfl. It is a rough business to get involved in.

I don't expect him to be happy but I care if he told the fans to go to hell. And while he didn't sound completely serious he wasn't completely joking either. This laugh everyone keeps mentioning is clearly a nervous laugh. Anyways, the attendees paid a lot of money, and without the support of both British AND American fans, he would not be in the position he is in. Which is getting exposure and monetary compensation that fighters of his caliber don't normally get. Tim Sylvia has endured getting booed a dozen times at least and doesn't have half the following Bisping has. And he is a true A level fighter. He sucks it up. So can Bisping.

I'm sick of people who want to be mean. People like that are the reason our world sucks. And i'll happily stand by the side of those supporting respect and responsibility to others. You don't have to like someone. You can criticize them. But their are boundaries that are crossed all the time that prove to be nothing but detrimental. It's easy to cross the lines between criticizing and disrespecting.

Nothing stops the fans from booing whoever they want, but it's disrespectful. No one has ever tried to say the fans should not be allowed to boo. That would be censorship. I don't see anyone preaching for censorship. What i and other are preaching for is for people to show some self control and good judgment. Why isn't cheering for the fighter you want to win enough? Why do you need to boo his opponent?

As for the fighters, they have to be censored to a certain degree. They are employees that are the face of a company that runs a business. There is no way they can just be allowed to say whatever they please. That would undoubtedly end up being detrimental to the company at times.

It all comes down to my central point that part of life is accepting that you can't always act the way you want because of how it affects other people. That is not censorship, that is respect and responsibility.

He doesn't hate the state of New Jersey. He was talking about the fans who booed him after a very tough fight.

Exactly, it is actually a big difference between those 2.

please end this thread, its pointless... no one cares if he hates NJ. I am a NJ resident and could care less, he can say whatever he wants, it doesnt effect me at all, or anyone for that matter

This whole thread is kinda pointless IMO. Yes Americans need a bad guy and we will boo. Is OK? Of course not but you know that coming in. I think Bisping is a really emotional guy with and over inflated opinion of himself. I think if your going to fight in the US you have to know your goung to be booed. They booed Hammil when he fought Bisping and the guy is deaf! So lets not act like Americans are the only ones booing.

Watch the Jeff Monson fight. Just before the decision when the crowd are booing him, Tim sticks a finger up to them.

I don't know why its being seen as such a big deal. It was a joke completely, and I think everyone knows it too, I think they are taking it too personally due to their own feelings for him.

Is it just down to people's sense of humours, or am I generally not seeing something, Bisping has lost officially at last for everyone who was annoyed about the Hammill decision, so he can be left alone now for sure, but he isn't being left alone because Bisping performed well enough to show a win for a weak Rashad, so basically he can't do anything right really, and can't make a joke either.

If Bisping would take some pointers from our good friend Matt Hughes about professionalism we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I .
Why isn't cheering for the fighter you want to win enough? Why do you need to boo his opponent?

I believe we are getting to bottom of the issue right here. I think it is a culture issue. In American sport and entertainment they need a bad guy or it will turn uninteresting. The guy coming from another country usually end up being the one booed at. It is just like professional wrestling.
I don`t think this will change no matter what we think or do but I will never look down at someone saying something like Bisping did after getting treated like a sh** in the first place by an immature audience.

Most people reading former post about Bisping should now that I am not exactly a fan boy of him.But in this case I will defend him.

In Japan they cheered extra for their home town boy but they never booed at someone for no reason. boing 40 sec into the match is destroying the match more then the fact that it might be a boring fight imo.

First off who cares if he told the fans to go hell? Isn't he intitled to his emotions and own opinion? Besides from what I have been reading they weren't cheering for him anyway so why should he have to like them?

I am sick of all this be nice to eachother crap in the world. The fans should I be able to boo whoever they want and the fighters should be able to say what they want. Why are we trying to censor eachother?

They censored all the drivers in nascar with fines and points docking and what did we get stuck. A bunch of boring interviews and boring post race antics. Back in the day before all this crap when the drivers true emotion was allowed to be seen it was infinately more interesting.

I am afraid that the ufc is already far down this path of boring cookie cutter interaction.

Believe me censorship is boring so don't feed the monster!

As for USA USA. Again who cares. In england they were definately cheering for the English fighters much more than anyone else. This is just human nature and I think it makes an event more entertaining. I am sure if the Brits had a easily chantable thing along the lines of UK UK they would do it to. Remember now we did fight two wars against eachother. That may have been awhile ago but there is still something there.

Finally for the brits on this board what do you guys chant at say the world cup? You have to have some nationalistic chants for the soccer matches.
