UFC 82: Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter fight booked at UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and tickets — MMAmania.com
Quote:
Former middleweight champion Rich Franklin will look to get back on the winning track against 185-pound winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4, Travis Lutter, at UFC 82 on March 2 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Dave Melter from WrestlingObserver.com confirmed the rumored bout in a recent print edition of his newsletter. In fact, it will serve as a co main event alongside the middleweight showdown between current division titleholder, Anderson Silva, and PRIDE FC Welterweight Champion, Dan Henderson.

I really was hoping this would stay a rumor. I like both of these guys a whole lot. I don't know who to cheer for.

LOL, looks like Dana is still pissed at Lutter... however, I feel that Lutter has a decent chance to win this. I would really like to see Lutter pull this one off, but I won't lose any sleep if he loses since Rich is a great fighter and a likable personality.

Well one thing is for sure, Franklin won't have to go in for surgery after this one. Lutter takes this one fast, and of course via submission.

if Lutter takes Franklin to the ground, it may make Franklin's night long but I am cheering for Franklin.

This is an interesting matchup. Both these guys use their size advantage to keep the fight where they want and overpower their opponents. Lutter is a big wild card here and how he approaches this fight will make all the difference. He will have been out of action for about a year when this fight takes place. How he has spent that time off? Will he be looking to redeem himself? When Lutter was on TUF many said he had terrible takedowns, i disagree, he just doesn't have explosive takedowns. But imo that's what it will take to get Franklin down. I don't see him being able to keep Rich on the cage easily as he does with most. And he won't have superior cardio that's for sure. Lutter needs a first or early second round sub to win here. He can do it, but it will be difficult. Look to Franklin-MacDonald except for Lutter keeping Rich tied up better.

Had Lutter come into the Silva fight in shape and able to make weight he would have rolled over Silva. He had his way that whole fight as it was. Just didn't have the gas to do anything about it.
I'm surprised he's being welcomed back to the UFC after that though.

AS long as Franklin can keep it off the ground and doesn't use the same gameplan that Andersen Silva did when he fought Lutter I expect Rich to win. I like Rich a lot. He's got a good personality and a good work ethic. I'm definately not a Lutter fan. War Franklin..........

Franklin will just muscle Lutter around and beat him down by TKO 2nd Round.
Hoping Lutter will actually make weight this time.

It's an interesting match up for sure. I don't think this will be an easy task for Franklin, unless it stays on the feet, which he would dominate, giving his history with non-strikers. But, I think that Lutter will probably respect franklin's stand-up enough to take it to the ground. At this point, we will see how good a ground game Rich has against an excellant bjj guy like Travis. Will he tap out to a submission or ground and pound his way to victory?
This fight is huge for both fighters, especially Rich if he wants to compete and stay in the UFC. Hope he gets back on track...

Rolled ?? I think you need to watch this fight again. Silva was in control even on the bottom.
Rich by KO round 1..

I hope Lutter wins this. It could easily go either way though depending on where the fight goes. I'm picking Lutter by sub in round 2.

People are talking like Lutter hasnt fought since silva, didnt he fight a few months ago on the undercard???
Im a huge franklin fan and one of the few that respects his skill regardless of the fact that he hasnt beat silva
And i also like Lutter and feel he deserves more credit than he gets
Im taking Franklin based on well roundedness...most likely a ground and pound finish in round 2

I don’t like the attitude of some of the fans who always like to complain. When they say if you had a quick fight that they wished it was longer and if you have a long fight they say you should have beaten this guy quicker. Some people you just can’t please. If it is so easy, they can put on a glove and do it themselves. I’ll watch them fight.

I thought Lutter performed better against Silva than Rich. I like Rich Franklin better, but also kinda pull for lutter. Lutter had the mount on Silva. Rich kept it standing to his own demise. This could be a very good fight depending on how each fighter approaches the other.
