MMA Madness Q&A: One-on-one with Sean Sherk
Read Full Article
MMA Madness writer Ben Zeidler recently caught up with Sean Sherk to discuss just about every aspect of the steroid controversy, his feelings on BJ Penn, and the Lay ‘N Pray style he’s often criticized for. Here are the highlights of that interview.
MMA Madness: What’s the story with your title being stripped considering you’re eligible to return in January? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Sherk: You know, Dana basically said that he wants to stay consistent with what he has done in the past. In the past, if you did it or not, you got the belt stripped. He believes that I didn’t do it and I know that I didn’t do it, but the belt gets stripped. That’s just the way it is.
MMA Madness: Are you pleased with the announcement that you’ll get the winner of Penn-Stevenson?

Good article. It gives us a little more insight on why he thinks he tested positve. Sounds logical to me. If they didn't meet there quailty controls than it shouldn't be accepted.

if you cant come up with a logical fib within the timespan of half a year WITH the assistance of a lawyer....you probably wouldnt be smart enough to be a world class mixed martial artist

He didn't do it. I can't wait to see him come back and dominate again.

I can believe the lab screwed up. And if all Sherk says is factual then they screwed up big time and the CSAC should be the ones defending themselves.

That was a great interview. Sherk has always seemed very direct to me. I like his interviews because i don't see much fluff. And i agree with a lot of his opinions. I'm still up in the air and always will be about if he used steroids. There is no way for us to know for sure. But i stand by what i've been saying the entire time, he is playing the part perfectly. Imo he has said and acted exactly how i would expect an innocent Sean Sherk to, throughout every step of the process.

I find Sherk more credible then the labs doing the testing. We're led to believe that testing for banned substances is rock solid when in fact, it is not. Here is little write up that i found that backs Sherk's claims. Its not related to the hearing but to anti-doping policy in general.

Sherk didn't test as high as he did off of "residue" left behind in a test-tube, nor did he test as high as he did because of TRACE amounts of steroids in over-the-counter supplements. He tested positive because he used steroids during his training, and mis-timed his cutoff.
It's funny how all of Sherk's "reasons" for pissing hot keep changing. First it was because of a high protein diet, then because of creatine, then because of unnamed OTC supplements that were "tainted", and now "the lab screwed up". It is all BS.
I'll bet a rubber chicken you guys would be amazed if you really truly knew how many MMA guys cycle steroids as a training strategy. Heck, I assume a LOT of guys do it, and I bet even I would still be surprised if I saw the real numbers.

He hasnt really changed his reasons, he has added more and people do discover imformation over time. And a report came out about the xyience being tainted from another source besides Sherk. His levels weren't Gracie high so it is possible that he had the normal level, then the xyience possibility, and the residue could have gotten the levels up to what was it 12?

His levels were 120 times normal male levels. Normal male results are less than .1mg. nanogram per milliliter. The "reason" he keeps coming up with new excuses is because of the old theory of "if you throw enough crap at a wall you figure eventually some of it will stick."

Agreed!!! Sherk hid behind his law team immediately after it happened. Do everyone not remember that we didn't hear a word out of his roided up body after it happened? what would you do if you were accused of doing something like that? I would be on CNN declaring my innonence. Sherk waited and came up with a defense and he's throwing it at us now.....and some of you are buying it?!?!?!? He's a steriod user...the tests said it, and he looks like it. End of story in my book
