Ok, the UFC does not have him headlining a card b/c they think he is GOOD enough but more so b/c they think he is MARKETABLE enough. I am sorry but 1 fight against someone I cant even name at this moment does not get you into the top 10 of an organization that you have never fought in b/4. Now if he beats Mir in a convincing manner then maybe he breaks in at #10 but I would still wait until after atleast 1 more quality win b/4 I put him in mine.....

Some thoughts on this. I had Sakurai as my #5 for the longest, but decided to take him off. Sherk is no longer the champ, so I gave the #1-2 spots to the people fighting for the belt. I left Chuck off last month, but let him back in at number 5 cause I couldn't justify to myself that Tito should ever be above him. Though Serra is still the recognized champ, I put GSP at #1 since he is really the active champ now at the division. Serra will stay at #2 until he fights again or retires. The #10 WW spot could have gone to Swick, but I want to see him fight as a WW to see where he is at before I vote for him in the division.

thats not really the point. one performance of inexplicable poor performance should not have a large affect on judging a fighter. its like a statistical anomaly, where analysts ignore the outlier.

Well what about Shogun, he only had one fight in the UFC and he got his can whipped by Forrest. Should you put Shogun above Forrest since his past performances from PRIDE?

Just a note regarding Manny Gamburyian and Gray Manard, even though they may actually be worth ranking, lay and pray fighters in any division will never get a vote from me, Kos, Sherk and a couple others used to be in that catagory but have evolved. Until the others learn some MMA other than takedowns and holding thier opponent they will not be on any ranking list of mine.

That is why it's a vote, if I wanted to put Tank Abbott ahead of Fedor I could. It would be goofy, but it may actually be someones actual opinion. I am certain not everyone agrees with my picks above either. C'est la vie .

But it was two poor performances which could be the beginning of a trend. This fight could be the actual statistical anomaly considering he did win by dec. Not only that, but statistics have shown that the older a fighter gets, the more their career starts to slide, but will occasionally have a good performance. So perhaps you should throw out the last win and look at the losses a little harder.

Yup, I agree with Harms and the others on this one.

BTW, I've avoided the rankings for the past couple of months mainly for rankings like Liddell at #1 LHW and Bisping at #3 at MW.

But, the rankings seem to be getting better. I'll try to post mine tonight when I get home from work.

Not that I think Maynard deserves to be in the top 10, but I don't know why you consider him a lay n pray guy. Especially considering in his last fight he knocked his opponent out in 9 seconds... I don't know how you get lnp out of that.
