Danzig v. Bocek at UFC 84
This is a decent match. They could've chosen a weaker opponent for Danzig - I like that they didn't. Bocek, the BJJ guy, isn't bad. Danzig's a confident dude but he might want to keep this on the feet.

“The Ultimate Fighter 6” cast member Mac Danzig (17-4-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will return to action for the first time since defeating Tommy Speer at the show’s live finale to take on Mark Bocek (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC). The fight takes place at UFC 84, which is slated for Montreal’s Bell Centre on April 19.
The news of the fight comes from Danzig’s manager, Monte Cox, via a report from The Fight Network.
UFC 84 currently features a title-unification bout between current welterweight champion Matt Serra and interim title-holder Georges St. Pierre. MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) has also reported a bout of Joe Doerksen vs. Jason MacDonald, as well as a likely fight between Thiago Alves vs. Karo Parisyan.
The 27-year-old Danzig, a former 155-pound champ for King of the Cage and Gladiators Challenge, recently said he only moved up to welterweight because a spot on “The Ultimate Fighter” was just the break he needed to get into the UFC. The sixth installment of the UFC’s reality series featured only 170-pound fighters.
Danzig cruised to three straight exhibition victories for a spot in the show’s December finale, where he beat Speer with a first-round submission victory.
Prior to appearing on the show, Danzig lost his KOTC title to Clay French via split decision in January, and he then suffered a second-round knockout to Hayato Sakurai at PRIDE 33 the following month. Prior to the losses, though, he had posted a 12-fight win streak.
He’ll now take on Bocek, who survived an early combination from fellow lightweight Doug Evans at UFC 79 for an eventual unanimous-decision victory.
Bocek, also a King of the Cage vet, made his UFC debut in July. The Canadian, though, suffered a first TKO to rising contender Frankie Edgar. The 26-year-old is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and has won some of the most prominent grappling competitions throughout the world.

Guess i don't remember who he is. A loss to Edgar can't blemish your record to bad since he is a top guy.

I think that Danzig will win this one rather easily, especially if he keeps it standing. On the ground Bocek could pull out a sub. At least they gave Danzig somebody that has a win in the UFC for his first fight, instead of a nobody.

I believe Danzig will dispose of Bocek rather easily as well. Danzig is not the typical TUF fighter coming into the UFC; he is the real deal and I think he will be a force in the LW division sooner than later.....

Agreed. He has good striking sense he out struck everyone on TUF, Good Wrestling sense he took down a great wrestler, good TD defense sense he was able to keep it standing vs koloski, and great subs sense he has subbed so many people.

I'm sorry to have read all that info about his background. It makes the last TUF more of a joke than I thought it was already. It's almost worse than sitting through a timeshare presentation. At least with a timeshare presentation you know what it is, with the TUF we had to figure out that it was just a marketing platform.
