Keith Jardine Possibly Added To UFC 82
Keith Jardine Could Return in May -- MMAjunkie.com
Quote:
Rumors that rising light heavyweight contender Keith Jardine (13-3-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) might be added to an already-star-studded UFC 82 event apparently have no basis.
Sources close to the fighter today told MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) that Jardine’s future is uncertain but that he’s definitely not expecting to be part of UFC 82, which takes place March 1 in Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Jardine, who found his way into the UFC via the second season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” scored the biggest win of his career in September with a split-decision victory over former champ Chuck Liddell at UFC 76. In fact, it appeared to be a clear-cut victory for Jardine, who used a series of leg kicks to wear down his heavily favored opponent.
Jardine’s been on the bench ever since the upset, which catapulted him up the world light-heavyweight rankings. In fact, many outlets currently have Jardine ranked within the division’s top five.
However, the Team Jackson fighter is in something of a holding pattern for now. He was a possible opponent for either Lyoto Machida or Tito Ortiz, but the two fighters were recently booked for their own fight together, according to Ortiz. Insiders tell MMAjunkie.com that UFC executives are banking on a future rematch between Jardine and Forrest Griffin (Jardine TKO’d him in December 2006), but Griffin will first serve as a coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 7” and then fight current champ Quinton Jackson for the title this summer.
Jardine is now 5-2 in his UFC career. The only real blemish on his resume is a first-round TKO to Houston Alexander at UFC 71. Jardine also dropped a questionable unanimous decision to Stephan Bonnar nearly two years ago; many fans and media members thought Jardine was the clear winner in the fight.
Regardless, Jardine is expected to return in or around May for his next bout, though the UFC continues to look for a suitable opponent.

I really hope so. This card is getting better every day it seems. I would LOVE to see him go against Wandy. I hope Wandy doesn't make the same mistake and take another year off. He needs to get back in the cage ASAP!!

It says he's not expecting to be on the 82 card. The article says about a possible May return........so the title needs to be fixed.

Shogun supposed to fight in April... but he said that a long time ago. Don't know who Jardine could fight.

Jardine is getting screwed. He won a fight they clearly didn't want him to and now they stick him on the bench.

Even if Wandy just got beat by Chuck. Wandy would look good on Jardine's resume. He might be honored to fight another former champ.

This stuff happens in sport it is never a-z! If Jardine is smart he will look to take on another fight that is going to put him as the next number one contender. Both Wandi and Shogun are credible fights. At the end of the day Forrest beat a guy everyone had down as the best light heavy weight in the world (regardless of fitness or injuries).

man hope for a great match for Jardine, finally got to watch UFC 76 and his match with Liddell and he looked great. Would love to see him fight Rashad, Wandy, Shogun, or get some revenge on Bonnar.

They're taking all of the focus off Jardine so Chuck will look better, I hope he fights at 82 if he fights in May that will be too long, I want to see a rematch between Jardine and Alexander, not just because I want Jardine to get revenge but I think that would be a crazy fight now that he'll take Alexander a lot more seriously.
