Default Karo to Fitch - "I'm not ducking you"

Funny to see Karo taking crap for his comments.

"Do you know who I am?"

Quote:
UFC welterweight stand-out Karo “The Heat” Parisyan (18-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) has a simple message for fellow contender Jon Fitch (15-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC): I’m not ducking you.

Parisyan joined Tuesday’s episode of TAGG Radio to discuss his April 2 bout with American Top Team’s Thiago Alves (13-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC), but the conversation quickly turned toward the controversy surrounding a possible Parisyan-Fitch match-up.

“Their camp is talking crap,” Parisyan said. “I have respect for Jon Fitch as a person. I have never seen him be cocky. He’s a very humble guy. He’s a great athlete. But everybody thinks I’ve been dodging Jon Fitch. That’s never f***ing happened at all. I have never been called on the phone, and never been offered to fight Jon Fitch.“

And while Parisyan stood firm in his denial of any knowledge of an offer to fight Fitch, he did admit to requesting an opponent other than Fitch.

“You have to understand,” Parisyan said, “that I was offered a title fight for sure, so I said, ‘You know what? I’ll get an opponent that I have a higher percentage of beating.’ I still think I can beat Jon Fitch. But still, the reality is, it’s still a tougher fight.“

As for a potential future match-up with Fitch, Parisyan insisted he would accept the fight.

“In my mind, if they offer me, I can’t say no,” Parisyan said. “There’s no way I’m going to say no if I get an offer.“

But along with that promise came a message for Fitch.

“My message to Jon Fitch and his camp?” Parisyan asked. “Dude, chill out. Relax. I’m going to fight you one day. And be careful what you wish for because it just might come true.“

Lightweight contender Kenny Florian (7-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) also called in on Tuesday’s episode to discuss his upcoming fight with Joe Lauzon (16-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC).

The fight, also on April 2 as a part of UFC Fight Night 13, was a different opponent than what Florian had originally anticipated. Florian revealed that he was originally slated to take on the winner of the Roger Huerta-Clay Guida fight from The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale but that Huerta’s decision to take some time off in 2008 forced a change of plans.

Florian also shared his initial impressions of the announced upcoming lightweight title fight between newly crowned champion B.J. Penn and the man whom the belt was stripped from, Sean Sherk.

To hear both of these interviews, download Tuesday’s edition of TAGG Radio, available for free in the TAGG Radio archives.

UFC Fight Night 13 will be held at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colo. The main card will air live at 8 pm ET/PT on Spike TV as a lead-in to the premier of “The Ultimate Fighter 7.“

Tune in today as TAGG Radio welcomes American Top Team General Manager Richie Guerrero to the show.

Guerrero will recap American Top Team’s busy weekend, featuring UFC 80 wins by team members Wilson Gouveia (10-4 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Alessio “Legionarius” Sakara (12-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC). Guerrero will also update us on upcoming plans for the many fighters on American Top Team’s impressive roster.

I don't really want to listen to the interview. What did Florian have to say about the BJ/Joe fight?

I'm going with Fitch. I just feel like he's underrated since his fight with Diego. I mean, Diego never had a chance in that fight imo. And we all saw how the Diego/Karo fight went.

I agree that Fitch would win but not b/c he beat Diego and Karo lost to him. I just feel that Fitch is bigger and stronger and he is a better all-around fighter IMO. I do like Karo though and I believe that it would be a fun match to watch, so I so hope it happens at some point.....

Ya me to. Karo just is so good at not being in trouble, but I think Fitch is just as well rounded at Karo, but with more power, better wrestling, and some vicious GnP. He is an upgrade of Karo I think.

Well, i have sort of lost respect for Karo. For Karo to request a weaker opponent because of chances with a title fight, the thing is it sounds like he is quite far away from one anyway. We are going to have GSP vs. Serra, and then Dana is now talking about BJ moving back up to face GSP, and if the Karo vs. Fitch fight doesn't happen by then, then I think Fitch would be more deserving of the fight then Karo if Fitch wins his next fight.

Also, it doesn't say much for his own self-esteem. I mean Chuck before his title fight, which was meant to be happening with Tito, fought Babalu, who at the time was on a great run, Chuck knew it was a tough fight, and I think thats how fighters should be, they should fight the tougher opponents to then show that no-one could have any doubts that they deserve the shot after always beating worthy opponents.

I just think its pretty dumb of Karo to not want the Fitch fight, and he said he isn't ducking him, but to request any other fighter instead of Fitch, that does sound like ducking to me, and if Karo beats Fitch, then in my mind he is the next contender in the WW division right now, and should get a shot before even talking about BJ.

I just think Karo needs that fight to push him above Fitch, and the longer he "ducks" Fitch, the longer Fitch will be seen, in my eyes, as a more deserving contender.

Well Fitch is already in my eyes the more worthy contender. I think he should be next in line after GSP vs Serra.

Fitch is great. Before a crack at the title, I wouldn't mind seeing him take care of Hughes (if he doesn't retire).

I think that Fitch should fight the winner of the Karo vs Alves fight for #1 contention spot.

I agree with most of this. If Karo wins this fight, I see him and Fitch both deserving of a title shot. And this would obviously be the best way to settle who the #1contender is. However, if Alves defeats Parysian I just think that Fitch should get the title shot. Imo Alves would have to beat one more top contender before he deserves a shot... that and there's the fact that Fitch already beat him.

to me that sounds that like karo is in fact definitely dodging fitch. his argument is he's not completely dodging him, and that he'll fight him in the future, he just doesnt want to fight him now because it will put his title shot in jeopardy
