ufc 82 prediction
UFC 82
Anderson 'the spider' silva vs 'hollywood' Dan henderson
Anderson 'The Spider' Silva
Strengths:
- muay thai
- black belt in bjj
- vicious strikes
'Hollywood' Dan Henderson
strengths :
-strength
-ground and pound
-world class greco roman wreslter
Analysis
Both fighters have world class ground skills, but dan henderson's supior strength i think would give him the upper hand on the floor. if he can get anderson on his back and control him, he could make it extremely hard for the ufc middleweight champion, but anderson silva could easily catch dan in submission. whereas anderson has a clear advantage standing up, he has vicious strikes and could put away any fighter at 185 lbs with a punchs, kicks, knees or elbows.he also has a destructive muay thai clinch which he demonstrated againest rich franklin in there first fight.
Prediction
the only way i can see dan henderson provailing as the victor in this fight, is if he can keep anderson on his back and by utlising some ground and pound, but anderson is such a good all round mixed martial artist that i think he will overwelm HOLLYWOOD dan anderson and win by way of either submission or knockout and there by validating his place as the best fighter at 185 lbs in the world.

I actually believe you got it right, I think that Silva will KO Hendo at some point in the fight but it will be very entertaining up until that point.....

I think your right.
I would love to see Henderson win. To prove that someone can beat Silva. But I will like to Silva to win to prove that no one can't beat him loll

i think anderson is the better fighter, however henderson might just have the style to beat him. ie use his size and wrestling skills in order to get a GnP victory. however im still going to back anderson

I agree with your analysis. There is no way Henderson can beat Anderson Silva in a stand-up war. Henderson's best chance at winning is to get the fight to the ground so he can utilize his wrestling skills. Even though Henderson would be safer on the ground, he would still not be totally safe since Anderson is a black-belt in BJJ and can catch Henderson in a submission if he's not careful. I'm definitely picking Anderson Silva to win this fight since he is so well-rounded and there are so many ways I can see him winning.

I'm an Anderson fan, and I'd hate to see him lose. But, Hendo is the slight favorite in the fight, IMO.
-I think Dan can neutralize some of the Anderson's clinch game by having the Greco background
-Anderson has KO power, but Hendo has never been KO'd
-I think Hendo has a better chance of controlling where the fight ultimately ends up standing/on the ground because of his wrestling
All I know is that both dudes are gonna come out to fight, and its gonna be a war.

Ye Silva got to be the favourite in this bout. But i think Dan is gonna give Silva his thoughest match in the UFC so far. It could go iether way but as everyone else i put my money on Silva. I think that Dan will have a hard time to take Silva down as the fight goes on and i see it being a even first and second round but then Silva will start to take over more and more.
Silva by ref stoppage early forth round.

If the fight goes the distance it will be interesting to see how Anderson does in the later rounds. In his five fights in the UFC, three of them ended in the first round, and the other two ended in the second. His cardio was never really put to the test yet so who knows how he will do if the fight goes into a fourth or fifth round.

If Anderson doesn't overwhelm Hendo in the first or second round....I see Hendo putting a lot of pressure on Silva in the later rounds and finishing the fight strong and getting a decision or a TKO.

Leban is a tank Abott brawler, and that was one of the worst matchups I've seen yet. The striking differences between the both arnt even in the same universe. He has strong punching power without cordination. Closing your eyes when you swing is never good. swinging looping punches in hope of connecting will work sometimes when your opponet has the same weak offence. Top tier standup fighters will give the same results over, and over.

I don't that Silva can submit Hendo. Look at when Hendo fought big Nog the second time.

I believe another thing that has to be taken into account here is that hendo hasn't looked the greatest in his last handful of fights at 183 in Pride. He went to decision twice with Misaki, won a split decision with Bustamante and a split decision with Kondo. In all of those fights he seem really tired and didn't seem to have the gas to really take the fight to the next level to get the win. Their may be something behind him wanting to fight at 205, maybe the weight cut takes too much out of him. Right now I cannot say who will take this fight, but if Dan fights like he did in those fights, he is in big trouble.
And although big nog wasn't able to submit him, lets not forget that lil' nog did.

If Hendo fought like he did against Rampage Jackson , I think he'll have a good chance, i also think Hendo has the strength advantage to hold silva down and get a chance at doing something with silva on the ground.
Hendo's best chance at beating Silva is by Unanimous Decision, test Silva's cardio out , and try n beat him on octagon control and striking.
