Does Anyone Else Feel A "Lull" In UFC Excitement?
First, maybe it's the fact that I spent 3 g's on The UFC alone last year between PPV and going to UFC 71.
But, I just feel the last few months a "lull" in the action so to speak. Other than Wanderlei/Liddell. That got me going. I am intrigued next week with Sylvia/Nogueira, Lesnar/Mir, but something seems missing with The UFC.
UFN wasnt great last night. The UFC has all these great fighters, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm kinda disappointed that we don't see more great matchups more frequently.
I think this seasons TUF will be insane. Lots of hype will go into marketing Rampage as LHW champ and Forrest being a solid Contender dismantling one of the worlds best in Shogun.
I still feel that "lull".
I'm not turned off to The UFC. I'm not upset with them. I guess I'm just expecting more, and more frequently for all the $$$ I spend on it.
It's a case of "What Have You Done for ME" the consumer/fan.....
Lately?
Anyone else share this?

Hell no, not me.
We've got super fights coming up left and right.
-BJ's gonna smack Sherk around for the title.
-GSP-Serra II for the title.
-ANDERLEI-HENDERSON for the title.
-OK, so Forrest-Page isn't the best title fight, but the division is stacked and Lyoto will kick Tito out of the UFC.
-Sylvia-Nog is pretty cool too. Werdum getting the next shot does suck though.
But all in all, no lull for me.
Only lulz.

I understand where you're coming from, Krav. After UFC 73: Stacked and UFC 74 with Couture and GSP, I thought we'd reached a turning point. I believed that every card would be so filled with matchups that my heart would palpitate. They certainly have the personnel to do it, but unfortunately the matchups 1-9 haven't been as consistently "stacked". I was hoping "stacked" would be a trend, instead of a treat.

Good responses. I feel better. Gooner I think capped it off best. I guess Im just not paying attention.
Serra/GSP II, you're right could be insane.
Penn/Sherk? I'd love that to be a 4th of July fight. Well maybe 5th of July since the 4th is on a Friday this year.
Rampage/Griffin I think could be a good fight because both men always bring it. But, I think Rampage's experience will prove just too much in the end. However, I have a feeling TUF season show is gonna be one for the record books, and thrust The UFC into the mainstream once and for all.

No Lull Here !
The only lull would come from the HW's.
But I'm confident that Brock will add some much needed excitement there.
I get the feeling that some people think that Lesnar will LnP alot.
But I don't think he will, he loves to entertain so I don't think he will disappoint the fans.

The MW division I think will get better, there is too many up and comers in 2007 for it not too in 2008. Guys like Leben, Cote, Horn, Marquardt, Belcher, Herman, Lutter and some guys I can't think of right now, I think 2008 is just going to be huge Forrest/Rampage will most likely be the best TUF yet, the fight will be great as well, the Heavyweight division especially with the addition of Lesnar and the Middleweights will both grow to the UFC standard if not better... so naw no lull

I can agree with this. At times I feel the lull but at other times I get really pumped about UFC, so I guess it balances out.

I agree Krav. Lately I haven't got that PUMP before every fight with the exception of Wandy/Liddell.

I think it's natural what Krav is talking about. I think UFC has been pretty good lately, but I think people can go through lulls from time to time with anything they're interested in. It just happens.

I can feel the same "lull" and i think its because 2 of the divisions dosent really excite me as much as they used to. First of the HWD is in very bad shape IMO, Werdum gets a title shot after being 1-1 thats not cool. The HW division really need some new faces (Go Lesnar) and badly needs to sign AA. But also the MWD i think that besides Dan vs Silva this is a very lackluster division. If Silva were to beat Dan in convincing fashion then that division is in serious trouble. There is noone near to beat Silva then, they cant toss in poor Franklin a third time.
So with UFC having IMO "only" three stacked divisions, once in a while you get these down periods. It will turn around

Last year was insane with all the Pride-fighters making their debuts, and all the rumours/upsets surrounding that. Now it’s back to business, so yeah you can't beat the excitement of that merger. This year I expect (hope) to see some fighters setting things straight again, Shogun and CroCop return to form etc. so there’s plenty of action ahead.

I really not feel a Lull. I am so excited about the Ken-Lauzon fight, and the rest off that card! Especialy now Clay also joined the card. And it is a free card! What could be an easy PPV. So yeah, the bad cards are ruled out by the good cards. And to be honest, we are getting a litlle bit spoiled here. We always want superb matches. But somethimes there are matches just needed to be done. But not that exciting to watch.
Anyway, i my eyes the UFC is really trying to get the best show on the card. And they have some points that arent really the most smartest points (Pride for example). But those points seem to work out. (The new years eve show overseas for example). So in the end, we are getting at times great fights. In a sport we all love. So yeah, not lull here. Just happy we got the UFC.

I felt it after this last free event. I was so pumped up after rapid fire I wanted to see it top that. That event by far was the lamest show yet. And the crowd goes boooooo again, and again. This might be what triggered the Lull, because it did for me.

I agree with Krav's original post and I also agree with this post.
Since Liddel/Wandy and GSP/Hughes, I haven't been stoked about any match. I missed the last PPV and probably will miss the next. Neither one had me really psyched.
In the future Penn/Sherk will be really good and also Silva/Henderson. However, after that....not so much.
I also agree with Cacti, I am really psyched to see Pulver and Urijah Faber square off. With the WEC being free on Versus, and actually having some TOP competition, I am pretty stoked about their events. They just need to time it better so they have an event when there is a sizable gap between UFC events.
