Can you guys please explain me one thing, cause i dont understand seeing more replies on this thread than replies on the ufc 56 topic
why compare UFC ( mma REAL fighting championship) with WWE ( an action "movie" or "show" of big mans taking steroids at 99.9% of the time and what about the fake fights they not bleeding after receiving a chair in the face)
i have nothing against ppl who like wwe, but plz stop talking SO MUNCH about it on a forum dedicated for ufc or at least plz explain me why there is some big topic talking about wwe vs ufc

Because right now Vince McMahon sees the UFC as a bug that needs to be exterminated. McMahon needs to be as the top draw for the entertainment dollar and the UFC attracts the demographic of people that fit into the majority of WWE fans, being 16 to 35 year old males. He will stop at nothing to squash any and all compitition. That's why all of the contracts for his wrestlers contain a "no compete" clause for when their contract is up. That's why he attempted to lure Goldberg away from the UFC and offer him a bonus to no show UFN. He truly sees the UFC as a threat to his billion dollar enterprise. Now that TNA is using Tito Ortiz I would not be surprised to see McMahon try to lure some other UFC guys over as he did with Shamrock and Sevren a few years back.

Oh please, it is the marketing, exposure, and demographics that we are comparing or discussing. If you do not like it, then remember that no one is forcing you to read it or reply to it or agree with it. It has nothing to do with what you discuss in your comment. And, many MMA fighters have been busted for taking STEROIDS. OMG, the horror! I am so sure that Boxing and MMA and such have never fixed any fights (wink, wink).
Seriously, the UFC is pretty much in direct competition with the WWE for the time slots of Monday night and for the 18-35 or 45 demographic mentioned in other posts or threads. They also compete for PPV viewers that do not buy EVERY single PPV availabe every week or month or whatever. It has nothing to do with the so-called "product" inside the ring or octagon. It is not about any comparisons between athletes...
Although, the WWE has Kurt Angle, the 1996 US Team Olympic Gold Medal winner in wrestling. Many recent pro-wrestlers in the WWE have high school and university level experience in wrestling... Like Brock Lesnar, with his 104-2 university level experience and two-time NCAA HW title holder. He is currently working for New Japan Pro Wrestling, and holds their IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. There are many others, such as Shelton Benjamin... Lesnar's roommate at Minnasota U.
So chill out...

I think that a lot of the true fans will watch UFC, Pride, and others. But, I think that a lot of the 'mainstream' fans will stick with the UFC. What I said earlier was based only on them. And as for UFC vs WWE and the like. The WWE is the UFC’s number one competitor. At the moment this topic (the potential loss of on of the UFC commentators) has to do with the WWE. There is one thread with active discussion of the WWE. And all discussion about the WWE is to how it relates to the UFC and Pride. It’s not a bad thing.

This is interesting... I found those links to the pro-wrestlers at Wikipedia.Org, and then thought it would be interesting to see what they had for any MMA fighters.
Fedor Emelianenko
Mirko Filipović
Tito Ortiz
Andrei Arlovski
Anyways, those are cool... you can look up more, if you like. I though that it was interesting that the Tito Ortiz page talks about his 2005 pro-wrestling career in TNA (now appearing on Spike TV). I wonder what Dana White is thinking having Tito Ortiz on the same network as the UFC, since Dana has such a hate on for Tito?

Honestly, why bother? WWE sucks anyway. It used to be good eons ago when WCW was still alive and WWE had competition and a reason to try to be worth a crap.
Ever since 2001 the WWE "product" has been stale and dissapointing as all hell. Oy....i miss the good old days around the monday night wars era but when wrestling actually used to be good. Those times are long gone, with vince the only game in town and wallowing in mediocreity alone.

It's not competing in terms of content, but it is competing in terms of fan base and market size. A lot of UFC fans are former WWE fans. I know for myself, I switched and never looked back. This is why WWE is getting scared, they are slowly losing the market. It's not going to be an over night process but slowly and surely MMA will be a main sports competitor for WWE and take its ratings.
I'm hoping that as the UFC popularity increases they adjust the seating at the live events. If you look at the map, if you're not sitting on the floor as a celebrity or fighter its hard to see what's going on. I personally love watching it on TV at the local bar and on SPIKE. But more fans, means we're gonna need more space.
Would also be cool if UFC travelled more like WWE events. But I guess we'll see what Dana has in store for us in the future.
That's just my opinion.

Knowing Vince McMahon... He would probably switch the WWE over to straight MMA fights before he would throw in the towel and close up shop on the WWE forever. Come to think of it, I wonder what that would do to the sport of MMA?

Ugh, don't even say that. McMahon has no business in MMA.

Totally agree. He needs to be involved in MMA about as much as he does pro football.

Our worst nightmare: Vince McMahon and Don King ruling over MMA! Hell would freeze over before that, right?

That would be funny... Imagine a Triple-Threat MMA match, LOL. Or tag-team MMA matches. God, I hope the WWE does not read our stupid ideas. LOL.

Imagine how fast the haters in Washington would use the XFC as represenative of all MMA organizations. Every one would be of the air in less than a month. Thats how politics works in the US of A.

One thing that McMahon could actually help MMA with is marketing that product. I mean, Vinny Mac has many friends in high places. He managed to keep the WWE on the air in some states that wanted to ban pro-wrestling... Like the battles the WWE had in New Jersey. They said that the WWE was too violent. McMahon massaged the system until he got his way in New Jersey. I don't see Dana White beating some of the people that are opposed to allowing the UFC to expand nationwide...
