I'm mainly hoping Brock dominates so people on FF will shut up about how the UFC is becoming a circus, ets.
I've never seen Mir fight, so I'm going into this fight blind.
However, just knowing what I do about Lesnar's wrestling credentials, and the fact that wrestlers have had a leg up on most fighters since UFC 1...as long as he's had good striking trainers, plus maybe grappling, he's got all he needs to pump up the HW division.

If he doesn't make the weight or loses to mir then either way i would be crushed.......i think lesnar has the potential to take the ufc & mma as a whole to a whole new level of popularity.

Being an MMA fan from way back, well at least since 93' or so, and having never been a fan of "Pro-Wrestling" I am thinking he will do well. The one thing I'm hoping to never see is that whole "Pro-Wrestling" attitude and smack talking. If he can accomplish anything and remain relatively modest I'll be happy.

Proof? The guy's an amateur wrestling legend. Just because he followed the money and did fake wrestling doesn't mean he doesn't have real fighting ability.
Plus, we don't know who's been training him all this time.
He'll probably show up and shock everyone with his MMA ability.

It's a little early to be saying that don't you think ? The guy has only had 1 pro MMA fight and we haven't really what he is capable of. I hate to see how people are just writing him off so soon because he was a pro wrestler. Funny how no one wrote off Sakuraba or degrades his name like they do Lesnars when he too got his start in pro wrestling. And look what he was able to accomplish.

I don't take them, if that's what you re suggesting
And the effects last a little longer than Sean Sherk thought. So, Lesnar probably stopped taking them a while ago.
He'll be smaller and he'll make weight. I guarantee it.

I dont know anything about any wrestlers. What weight does he walk around at?
This is intresting, because I didnt think that mma fans would want any hype from wrestling.

I hope that Lesnar climbs to the top of the cage and does a frog splash on Mir to get the pin. Wait, wait, wait! Sorry, I reverted back to pro-wrestling.
Seriously, I think that Lesnar can live up to his own hype. Pro-wrestling did not provide what he really wants: challenge. Brock Lesnar was getting a good challenege in the NCAA wrestling events. He did well enough in the NFL to make the starting team for the Vikings. But, Brock Lesnar seemed to need a one-on-one sport to excell.
That is why I think that Lesnar will do well in MMA. He has had exposure to large crowds and large events in the NFL and in his pro-wrestling days. So, I do not think that the bright lights and the glamour and large crowds will affect Lesnar. And, he has been training and preparing.
A big, decisive win over Frank Mir would be a great first step towards Lesnar becoming a major player in the HW division.

According to his BIO:Lesnar played for the Minnesota Vikings, where he created controversy in some games by starting minor fights and got heat from the Kansas City Chiefs for a sack on quarterback Damon Huard. Huard was knocked silly, and had to go to the sidelines and sit out a few plays. Giving hard hits to quarterbacks in scrimmages violates unwritten rules of professional football, and the Chiefs were not too happy with him. His actions got him featured on [ESPN's] SportsCenter on more than one occasion. After playing in a few games, Lesnar was eventually cut from the team after not showing up for practices due to an injury sustained by a motorcycle ride during the summer of 2004. He declined an invitation to play as a representative of the Vikings in NFL Europa. So, he did play in some games for them as a starter. I think mostly pre-season.

Kudos for adding "I think mostly pre-season" at the end though. LOL wtf.

He is a gimmick why? He is the headliner of a PPV event. So, you can milk his status for one fight. Market him as a big deal. When he loses in 30 seconds, it doesn't matter. The UFC has your money. Mission accomplished.

If you see Lesnar in his first fight, even though he takes it to the ground immediately, right before that he looks nervous and kind of overanxious in his stand-up. Then, on the floor, he muscles his way towards a ref stoppage, which could have been argued early. On top of that, his opponent did not try absolutely anything.
Now, if he has not improved much since that fight, chances are that this guy is getting submitted by Mir pronto. When Lesnar takes the fight down (as, of course, he will), he'll have to confront, for the first time in his mma career, a guy who is top 10 BJJ scrambler. I see Lesnar's arm getting caught in an arm bar, similarly to what happened to Hong Man Choi against Fedor, even though Mir and Lesnar are much more physically similar than Fedor and Choi.

I guess you didn't see his first fight. It was not a ref stoppage. He tapped due to strikes.

Go to the UFC website, who is on the advertisement? Um, yeah, not Silvia. Remember now, Silvia is likely the least popular champ ever in the UFC. You think they are going to be marketing his fight for the erm heavy weight title for this PPV? Obviously they are smarter than that. Yeah, it's a Lesnar PPV not a Silvia PPV.

Thanks for checking though.
