i am a by-the-letter-of-the-law kinda guy, but I also feel that a person should be absolved of his crimes once hes served his punishment, which is why I hate background checks and the fact that you may not be able to get a job simply because you were CHARGED with a crime
its bull****

Although I do understand your point and agree to a certain extent, put yourself in the shoes of the employer doing the hiring. If it was someone I knew and felt that they just made a mistake and got off track or if I feel they really did change and deserved an opportunity then yeah I would hire him/her. Having said that, if it was someone that I did not know I would want to know if they had ever stolen money or anything like that b/4 I hired them. Having no background checks is kind of like the whole cliche "ignorance is bliss" or something to that effect. I mean look at the percentage of repeat offendors, you could argue that the reason for that is b/c of background checks making it very difficult to find a job which forces them to resort back to what they were in trouble for in the 1st place. I personally believe that would be an excellent argument. We could go on and on w/ this debate though.....

I cant really honestly answer that unless I was put in that position but I would probably want to get ahold of him myself.....
