Unhappy

call me stupid, but those rules look like they are designed to have a tournament within a single match and there are only two fighters in the tournament... It essentially makes no sense to me...

its not the length of a fight that makes it memorable its the content. yeah, you could change the rules so a guy has to arm bar a guy three times before he wins but why would you? take the AA vs. Buentello fight, AA KO's Paul but you wait until he's "with it", so he can get KO'd again? thats plain silly and dangerous. MMA is designed to mirror combat in a way that is "safe" for the fighters. in a real fight you get KO'd or submitted and thats the end of the fight. a true fan of MMA would know that and not try to monkey with the rules just so you get you're moneys worth.

Default Whoa. Looks like I am in the minority

Alright, alright. I get the point. No one here wants rules changes that would hurt the fighters or disgrace the sport. You have all made great points here and I am re-thinking my original post. My proposed rules changes would alter the sport to much to the negative and make UFC barbaric. Fair enough. Point taken. I was wrong. But that said.....(see my newest post, new subject new post right?)_

And I still say a fifteen second knockout is not very entertaining. That same knockout in round two after an active round one? Much better. But that's my preference.

For the record, here are some examples of what I consider to have been great fights.

UFC 43
Ian Freeman vs. Vernon White
Good long battle both men showing great heart.

Randy Couture def. Chuck Liddell
Randy was a superman in this fight. That made it great to me.

Vito Belfort def. Marvin Eastman
Devastating knockout delivered by Belfort. The cut on Eastman's head did look like an axe strike.

UFC 44
Hermes Franca def. Caol Uno
If I remember correctly Franca won this fight out of nowhere. Uno was winning at the time.

Randy Couture def. Tito Ortiz
Once again Randy is a superman. Ortiz seemed to know it too.

And of course the fight that really introduced me to what the UFC is all about. My favorite fight so far in the UFC was....

Forrest Griffin def. Stephan Bonner by decision to win the Ultimate Fighter competition and the UFC contract. I thought it was the best fight I have seen in quite some time in any form of combat sport.
