Default Crocop Done With UFC?

Zach Arnold and FightOpinion.com are reporting this. Interesting. Sad it didnt workout if true.

Quote:
Pro Fight Store has a report claiming that while it is not 100% official that Mirko Cro Cop is done with UFC, there are rumors that Mirko will likely return to Japan to fight in the near future (for the new K-1/DSE organization).

Not really. It seems like a mutual thing. Pretty sure Crocop was getting 350k per fight, Im sure the UFC doesnt want to pay that and they cannot possibly be happy with there investment in him.

He doesnt seem to care either so I guess its back to fighting Dos Caras~!~

There are no contract disputes in this case to my knowledge. Dana has been quoted as saying "he doesn't care about Mirko". I assume that they would gladly terminate his contract as he is one of their highest paid fighters who hasn't exactly performed to his full potential. I have also heard other rumours that the UFC wants to re-negotiate his contract so they can pay him less. I would have liked to see him fight at least once more in the UFC but if it's true that they are trying to cut his pay then I can't blame him for going elsewhere.

I would see him going to World Victory Road.

I think the title should read UFC done with CroCop. Don't get me wrong, I like the man but i don't think anyone expected him to be possibly the biggest bust of 2007.

The GG fight was a bust for sure. I wouldn't say the same about the Kongo fight though. CC had a deviated septum and was kneed in the nuts what 3 times?

Yeah, the Kongo fight was tough. Just the same i did'nt see him winning that one with the way Kongo was pounding on him. There is a photo floating around the web that nailed a shot of Mirko taking a knee to the midsection and it looks like Kongo was trying to hit Mirko's spine. It just does'nt look possible. Anyhow, i don't want to see Mirko leave but if he can be more successful elsewhere he should go.

Yeah I don't think the UFC cares either way. I think they offered to let him go if he wants.

The cage has never suited Mirkos style anyhow. Takes alot more forward motion to cut someone off in the cage as compared to the ring where he has fought his entire career, from kickboxing in K-1 to PRIDE.

I've read several rumors regarding this over the past few days. Its beginning to look like it may be true.

Damn, I really wanted to see Mirko face some more guys before he left.

I would really really hate to see him go at this point. I wanted to see him win some more fights in a devastating manner to redeem himself.

This is what I got from an anonymous blogger who got this exerpt from a source. I know it's a stretch but here it is:

I'm off to Tokyo!
A big announcement will come straight from Japan tomorrow (February 13).
When the official part is done I'll be able to provide more information about everything,
and believe me, I have many things to say.
What you could easily guess by now is that I won't be retiring.
I'll keep on fighting, it's my life, it's what I do. - Mirko Crocop

I'm sorry. But if this turns out to be true then Mirko is being a real coward. How will he ever erase his shameful attempt at the UFC? Every time I see him win outside the Octagon I'll think about his UFC stint.

Even though I'm sure the UFC would love to save money on CroCop's contract, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't release him due to the Couture situation. They want to control every angle with Couture and it may open a new can of worms to authorize one fighter's release, but not another.

I hope it's not true. The UFC HW division is getting weaker by the minute and this would also hurt CroCop's image if he quit before trying to overcome his challenges in the octagon.

The Octagon just doesn't seem to suit Mirko and I guess he is content not to adapt. If he decides to leave I will still support him, he already has a legacy that will live on through his endless KO highlights.

I agree, but at the same time I also agree with

Seems like almost admitting defeat? Maybe?
