Default Karo: "Who The Hell Is Jon Fitch?"

Karo Parisyan: “Who the hell is John Fitch?” - MMAFightLine.com

Karo “The Heat” Parisyan was the guest on the most recent edition of PWB's Official Podcast Hotline with Lex and Ian Pro Wrestling and MMA Interviews - PWB’s Official Podcast Hotline. In a candid interview, Parisyan addressed several topics:

On rumors that he “ducked” a fight with Jon Fitch:

“That is bullcrap, that is like, absurd, I have never been offered to fight Jon Fitch in my life. Joe Silva has never called me and said ‘Karo, would you fight Jon Fitch?’ Jon Fitch is starting to get on my nerves with his camp. I’d like to say right now is, who in the hell is Jon Fitch? All of a sudden he’s beaten Diego Sanchez that I lost to and that makes him mister tough guy, like he can challenge me and if I don’t take the challenge that means I’m afraid? These guys were in there mom’s stomach when Karo Parisyan was fighting in MMA…I’d like to clear this up with everybody, there is no way in my life I’ve ever ducked or dodged any opponent…

On his fight with Thiago Alves at UFC Fight Night 13:

“I think that it’s a pretty good match against him because it’s a classic match up of a grappler against a striker and I’ve always had a lot of success with strikers. Thiago is more of a…he knows how to grapple, he’s got decent takedown defense but I think his big game is Muay Thai and a lot of leg kicks so just cut the distance and take him down, and ground and pound him and catch a submission on him.”

His thoughts on a possible welterweight title shot:

“I definitely deserve a title shot, it’s a chance that I might get it but at the same time I think I deserve it because, I mean, I got injured two years ago when I was supposed to fight Matt Hughes and I tore my hamstring. I came back, and I had to work my way up again, I couldn’t just come back and fight for the title like a lot of these guys are doing, like Matt Serra and Georges St. Pierre and all these guys. So I think I deserve a title shot if everything goes well, you know?”

For the full interview, including Parisyan’s thoughts on his improving standup game, making an impact in the UFC, the UFC 83 main event and a potential UFC ranking system, check out pwbpodcastlive.com, or search “pwb podcast” on ITunes and subscribe today.

Karo has got to be kidding. It is obvious he is scared of Fitch because he is trying his hardest to not fight him before getting a title shot.

I am pretty damn sure that Fitch would beat Karo by unanimous or KO!

I read this earlier. I think Fitch takes Karo by decision of course. Both have a game, where one neuturalizes each other. Fitch is to strong for Karo to throw and Karo is to well rounded where Fitches wrestling would be to much. As much I like both fighters, This makes to be a boring match imo where both fighter are hugging standing up. I see the clash of styles this way.

the only way karo beats fitch is if fitch's head is too big and he under estemates the reality of a judo throw followed by some elbos and a sub.

other than that small thought, i agree with master^^^^

it calls for a boring fight with with fitch winning.

if the fight is boring it would be entirely because of fitch

Diego made the fight with fitch exciting, no one will admit it on here i know but fitch laid there and landed one hammer fist

He might have a point...Diego did allow himself to almost get dropped on his head.

That was pretty exciting.

Ok

anyway, what i was harping on is that Karo is all of a sudden a boring fighter with remedial skill

i dont understand how fitch would wipe the floor with him? People say karo has beaten no one in no spectacular fashion and has no gas, but complain that he wins decisions all the time...Huh?!

if karo has beaten no one, who has fitch beaten? Diego. (i think roan carniero was a great win based on the skill of the fighter and how the fight unfolded IMO) too much merit is placed on mma math for this match-up

all i know is two great fighters with skill are gonna make an awesome match when they finally lock horns, no one is going to get dominated in this fight

I dont believe that they are saying that Karo is a boring fighter just that these 2 matched up could potentially make for a boring fight. Having said that, I am not so sure I agree; I can see where this could be a very entertaining fight but there is also that possibility it could be boring.....

I dunno, I find Fitch to be a pretty exciting fighter. He and Karo both like to come forward. I think it would be a great fight.

I think if Karo beats Alves he should get the next shot.

Iam trying so hard to continue to like Karo but with his refering to himself in third person and attitude, its wearing me down-lol

I would LOVE to see Fitch take it to him though.. I like how Fitch always keeps it coming and I think he is a exciting fighter.. I think these two matched up would be a good fight but would bet that Fitch would win by decision as others have mentioned..

I used to like Karo until Ultmate Fighter 5 when he came on the show & acted like a big star & tried pushing Diaz around............now i dont care who he fights as long as he gets beaten.............him & his cousin Manny come accross as having bad attitudes.

Fitch deserves a shot before Karo,He is 7-0, and the UFC thinks that way also as they are having him fight Chris Wilson just to keep him busy while Serra fights GSP.

karo has won 8 of his last 9 victories by decision. thats ridiculous. and who has he beaten to make him deserving of a title shot? a 7-4 matt serra by decision, a debatable decision over nick diaz and a decision over drew fickett.

im not saying fitch deserves to be ranked higher, and has any more high profile wins. i dont put too much stock in the diego sanchez mma math. but karo has no right to be disrespecting fitch like that. someone who is on a 14 fight win streak, finishing 8 of those fights.

It's hard to say who is more deserving of the next title shot between Karo and Fitch, especially if they both win their next fights. I really think they should fight each other to determine it but unfortunately Karo has been ducking Fitch.

I like how he says he's not ducking Fitch. But then goes on to say ... " I like the fight with Alves , Because he's a striker and ive always had success against strikers" lol ...... Sure doesn't sound like he's taking the easy route.

Karo himself has even said in the past that he didn't want to fight Fitch for his next fight because he wanted to fight a guy that he would have a better chance at beating so as not to jeopardize his title shot. Even if he was never officially offered a fight with Fitch, by his own words he still said he didn't want to fight him. That's still considered ducking in my opinion.

Taken from a recent article,
"And while Parisyan stood firm in his denial of any knowledge of an offer to fight Fitch, he did admit to requesting an opponent other than Fitch."

This is kinda how I see it Mickey, good post.

Before OBT harps words in my mouth lol, I think both fighters are top notch. I really wouldn't mind seeing this fight, I just had a bad feeling is all. Could be fight of the century seeing these two are the future of the division. Yes I like wacthing Karo fight, but it would be nice to see him get a TKO victory soon.

I think that Fitch is a much more accomplished fighter, he has impressed me alot and seems to be very strong at the moment. At the same time i havent been to impressed with Karos last bouts. I think this would be a rather one sided affair with Fitch on top GnP karo for three straight rounds.
