With all due respect, Tanner should not get a title shot any time soon. The UFC is already doing him a favor having him fight n#1 contender, Okami. But, at the same time, the UFC is doing him a DISfavor by having him face such tough opposition.

I don't think so. But why have a LHW headliner face a nobody MW when you have the former champ available? The UFC acts in mysterious ways.

Unfortunately, not many fans want to see a champion go on a long winning streak.

Ah thought it was mentioned he was fighting tonight, which he isn't. I would like to think Bisping could be a player at 185, but ultimately, I need to see him actually fight at this weight to gain better judgement. To be fair mate, us Brits discuss him quite a lot and it's only fair to everyone that we don't hijack other threads with him all the time. Probably why some people claim he is overrated etc.

And here we have a winner. UFC is desperate to build some cred, any cred for Bisping. He was beaten badly by Hamill and awarded an egregious decision, then lost to Rashad Evans, and then dropped to MW, effectively admitting he cannot compete at 205. Soooooo, UFC is trying hard to get the Bisping train running again.

It is like a whip, or like throwing rocks from and old style slingshot - there is so much SNAP! to his strikes! He develops amazing terminal handspeed. I would love to be able to strike like that.

That's an interesting point, now that you mentioned it. Very true...He does it so efficiently, without the big ol telegraphed windup. He just snaps them out there quickly & accurately.
It's kind of akin to a quarterback in football, who has a real quick, sharp release on his throws...as opposed to the dude who has to plant, windup and heave the ball down the field. Not only is that quicker motion more efficient, but the reaction time of the defenders needs to be so much quicker since they're barely getting any read off of any sort of a windup motion.
Combined that with his accuracy....friggin ouch! LOL
On the thread topic....I have nothing against Silva, his nationality or whatever...I just happen to like Hendo and have a natural penchant for supporting the underdog. I just always tend to root against the Dynasty-types. Be it the Patriots, the Yankees, Cowboys, Lakers, Hughes, Gomi....etc.
Except Tiger Woods (LOL). I'm actually hoping that he wins at least 3 majors this year and breaks the consecutive win streak.

For the record, I don't have anything personally against Silva. I hate to see the race card being pulled in here and I don't want to be associated with it. I just want to see anybody beat Silva. It's nothing personal though.

Im guessing you mean the casual British fans?
Cos its kinda insulting for you to assume that British true MMA fans would only buy tickets if a Brit is on the card...

Of course I mean "casual." Aren't most fans casual anyway? How many people who buy a ticket in England to see the UFC are actually involved on a daily basis in mma? And of course Bisping is the biggest draw the UFC has in England. Maybe he does not do it for you, but he obviously does for many, or so the UFC thinks. If it weren't so, why the careful path they have crafted for him?

C'mon Dan! Make it happen bro!

Now you'll have to wait for the ufc to digup, move weights,
market, hire the terminator before this will happen.

No I must disagree Bisping is not enough to draw me in to buy a ticket! The Iceman is though! I speak for a large group of MMA fans who I know well enough.
Although I support my country men and wish them well in all sporting activities (Like any Englishman) I am a fan of MMA first and fore most. Hence people like Hughes, Silva, Jackson, Liddell are going to put my rear end in a seat. If is Bisping is ever on a British card he is going to get a huge pop from the crowd but Chuck is gonna get an even bigger one no doubt in London!
