Good to see that this event had some serious payouts. Only 1 guy made less than 8k. That's not too bad for a few months work. If you're making 8 grand per event that's probably in the 40k per year range before you count sponsorship money, what you can make at a seminar, and anything you make as an instructor/trainer. It's not the NBA league minimum of a couple hundred grand, but now virtually every guy fighting in the UFC has the chance to do this as a true professional fighter.

UFC 82 - Paydays
Anderson Silva $140K +120K bonus = 260K. Brock Lesnar $250K for a minute and a half for a loss! That's just sad.
Okami...you need a better agent.
Quote:
MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) has obtained UFC 82 salary figures from the Ohio Athletic Commission, and Andrei Arlovski — a former UFC heavyweight champ who wasn’t even on the night’s televised card — earned the night’s biggest reported base salary with $170,000.
The night’s other top-paid fighters included main-event competitors Anderson Silva ($140,000) and Dan Henderson ($100,000), as well as main-card heavyweight Heath Herring ($140,000).
UFC 82 took place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The 10-fight card drew 16,431 spectators for a live gate of $2.2 million.
The total disclosed payroll for the event was $932,000.
The full salary figures include:
* Anderson Silva ($140,000) def. Dan Henderson ($100,000)
* Heath Herring ($140,000) def. Cheick Kongo ($30,000)
* Chris Leben ($50,000) def. Alessio Sakara ($17,000)
* Yushin Okami ($28,000) def. Evan Tanner ($25,000)
* Jon Fitch ($60,000) def. Chris Wilson ($12,000)
* Andrei Arlovski ($170,000) def. Jake O’Brien ($11,000)
* Luigi Fioravanti ($16,000) def. Luke Cummo ($16,O00)
* Josh Koscheck ($20,000) def. Dustin Hazelett ($12,000)
* Diego Sanchez ($60,000) def. David Bielkheden ($8,000)
* Jorge Gurgel ($14,000) def. John Halverson ($3,000)
All the winning fighters (except for Arlovski) received pay that awarded 50 percent “to show” and 50 percent as a “win bonus.” Arlovski earned $105,000 as a base salary and an additional $65,000 as a bonus for his victory.
Now, the usual disclaimer: the figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter’s income. They also do not include any other “locker-room” or special bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. In other words, these are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.
These salary figures also do not include the UFC’s traditional “fight night” bonuses. As we previously reported, Silva earned $60,000 Fight of the Night and $60,000 Submission of the Night bonuses, Henderson earned $60,000 for Fight of the Night, and Leben earned $60,000 for Knockout of the Night.

I still think its BS that Arlovski and Herring got the same/higher base rate as Anderson Silva.

It's amazing looking at those numbers and figuring out the contracts some of these guys signed when they were new.
I'm shocked the UFC signed Herring to a $70K per fight deal.
Anderson making so little as champ and as main event- I have to assume he gets some fat bonuses.
$25K for Tanner to come back and fight the number 1 contender ( who gets $14K per fight.
Amazing Fiorentino gets $8K perfight while Kos gets $10K.
The base has gone up but some of the contract guys are getting screwed.
How can someone like Kos, who gets fights 3 times a year max survive? He is expected to train full-time and is ranked pretty highly but could never make more than $60K plus sponsership. I assume training is very pricey. I don't get it.

Well, those are only announced salaries, not total compensation. Plus, these guys make sponsorship money, I'm sure somebody like Kos can charge a couple grand for a seminar, a lot of these guys sell merchandise or have clothing lines, plus many of them teach at the place they train.
I mean, unless you're the champ or you have a fat contract you're not pulling down a quarter million, but you're doing just fine making 30-75k per year. It's not yet at the level of even the NHL, but it's probably getting close to what most minor league baseball players earn.

wait did Silva get a total of $140k including the win bonus?
Would Henderson have made more with the win than Silva did with the win??? What's up with that?

This is probably the best overall payout that we've seen (at least recently), although I still feel sorry for anybody making less than 10k per fight.

Im pretty sure the Herring 70/70 deal is still on his WFA contract that they took over when they bought the company, not 100% sure but I remember reading that.

Yeah I see what you are saying if you are looking at those numbers only. These guys make WAY more than what we see as payouts. If you look at indy car driver payouts for there wins you would think they pay money to race but sponsors are the money honey!! These guys will get even better payouts the more times they fight and the sponsors will give even more as well.
