That's weak. As T-Bone said, this is a non issue, yet if Hughes puts it out there, there's no reason not to discuss it.

We all know the reason for this comment is Hughes previously stated desire to face Anderson Silva someday. He's never getting another crack at GSP and will end up facing Serra someday unless Serra takes out GSP. The only other match he see himself in is against Silva. A big money payday.

Hughes fans got all over GSP when he said he was "not impressed" with his fight with Penn. This is the same exact thing. Hughes trying to build up a match with Silva.

Dont worry Matt, you was the most dominant in your time, but those days are over.
That is just not right.
He actually gives out more nice comment about fighters then most of the other fighters in UFC. He gives great credit to chuck`s counterpunch tecniches and he also allways say nice things about the oponnents even when his defeated. Did he badmouth or make any excuses about the loss to GSP?

Take it easy on the "weak" part...just picking at Pitbull. Although when he started this thread he knew exactly where this thread would go. We both know he didn't start it with the intention of "let's all have a good discussion about this."

And I stand behind the rest.
Pitbull loves silva...hates Hughes...and is desperate for points.

I have never been a huge fan of Matt Hughes, but I see this as him stating how he saw the fight and these are observations and details that he saw from his perspective. His perspective of how Hendo and Silva looked in the fight and what they did is his personal opinion. I really do not see anything wrong with it, it may not be the opinion of many, but it is his opinion and he is allowed to say how he viewed the fight. In the same sense we are all allowed to express our perspective and opinion of how we interpret his comments.

Ya , I heard all his nice comments while coaching tuff.
And what the hell can you say when you lose. Except I take back all the crap I was talking before the fight.
Sure he'll give credit to chuck, he'll never fight him.
This is just my opinion, and it's subject to change like it has alittle already when I hear an argument worth it.

I guess Matt's personality( which noone can argue cocky)
left a bad taste in my mouth personally for not just giving credit, and then ending story.
But your most definetly right though, who would be better to comment than a veteran of mma.
He went five rounds with Rampage, and that was mostly fought up against the cage working for takedowns. It must have something to do with the cut, I can't think of anything else.

If you talk about the last TUF I can`t really say I saw the same show as you.
The one talking crap in that one was really Serra. Matt did not really say much abouth him other then that he behaved like a small baby, and he was right. Don`t mean I misslike Serra, I actually like him as a fighter, but Matt was still right about it.

Did he even smacktalk GSP before the match, I never saw or heard that so again you must have seen something else then me.

When he beat Grace and supriced everyone he was humill enough to make up an excuse for him. He said he was not used the round system and said he would have dont better in a 10 min round.

I got a lot of examples where you can see Matt actually behaving very nice.

He said after beating BJ that unfortunatly BJ showed up for only one round.
A very honest thing to say, and again he makes up an excuse for somone loosing against himself. He even sais he is a great fighter and is kind of telling us he would have lost if BJ had better cardio.

I just don`t know why everyone is so unfair to Matt, its just like Sylvia.
They are actually much better mannered then many other guys in UFC.

How could a guy that went five-rounds with arguably the strongest 205 Pounder in the world barely last two with a 185 Pounder?

Ya know, I do alot of the training for new hires, and I always tell them( that your going to hear alot of crap talking about people, but you need to form your own opinion on someone). This is exzacly what I did. I could careless about what anyone else thinks about him.
But over the years, I have heard him crap talk B.J., Rush,
Trigg, and a few others, and I have it on tape. He also came across as an ass to the fighters on tuff, which I thought was unnecessary.
Now confidence can sometimes be percieved as arrogance, and which might be his downfall.

My problem is the (losing fighter) came in out of shape, but they would win if they were in shape. We heard it with Shogun and now someone says it about Hendo. Who's fault is that? The only time it should be a somewhat valid excuse is if they took the fight on short notice. Hendo and Shogun had months to prepare for a fight. If they thought they were Damon Wayans in The Great White Hype, that is their fault. They may have won if they did come in shape, but the proof is in the pudding. In oth fights it seems like the superior fighter won based on the perfomances in that fight. People shouldn't whine about people being out of shape if a fighter loses. That is on them.

I think Hughes is being down on Silva because he feels like his 'most dominant champion' status is under threat. I think he sees that there is not much competition for Silva in the division and there is a good possibility he won't be dethroned for a while.

You may very well be right. But you can't possibly conclude that from this statement.

I hope Hughes is yapping so he can set up a fight with Anderson. That would be freakin hilarious. Silva by murder.

Yeah anybody can be beatin on any day in MMA, but instead of sitting on the sidelines pointing out whatever holes hes talking about (Which I doubt it has anything to do with his legs) he should shut up and move up to MW and take another beat down. Its simple.....

Do you even know why he gives all that credit to Chuck? Because their friends, duhhhhhh!

Actually I'm not desperate for points, and I would've started this thread had he made such a ridiculous comment about any other two fighters.

He has every right to his comment, and we have every right to a response.

matt hughes needs to shut up. ive never liked matt hughs and im not a fan of his speculation that hendo wasnt in shape. a fight like that, and you expect hendo to come out of shape. hendo's not making excuses, so i dont see a reason for matt hughes to come out of nowhere with a pile of bollocks.
