Not to start a war on here but I kind of agree with Matt Hughes. Hendo wasn't in the best shape (or appeared to be) after gassing in the second round. He went all out in the first and I think expected it to be over a lot sooner.
I can't take anything away from Silva because he man handles the entire division and whether or not you agree with it, he's knocked out or submitted the best this weight class has to offer. I'd like to see Hendo take another swing but if he doesn't fix his cardio then don't bother putting him in the ring.
Hendo should train with Couture....Randy is the one person who beats the odds because he trains accordingly whether it was to work on a better stand up game with Tim (ducking and moving) or his cardio and jiujitsu for .....what's his name again :P...just kidding Gazonga fans....he comes in good to go.
Can Hendo beat Silva....maybe...could have he looked better definitely.
I'd like to see St. Pierre vs Silva...they look similar....Silva isn't the biggest middle weight, and St Pierre is a ripped welterweight....if he doesn't cut weight he could probably float around 175-185.
Just my two cents.

I know it's not conclusive, it's just my opinion why he's down on Silva.

Hendo got rocked by a huge knee to the face and that allowed Silva to take control of the fight and win.

Just because weaknesses are discovered doesn't mean they will be capitalized. It often means that the holes are so obvious the person notices them and finds way around them or disguising them. Every fighter has a weakness...besides Randy Couture.

Yup
I agree. After the first round he was breathing incredibly hard. And what for? He has had very poor performances at 185 pounds in the past. After rd 1 he subsequently pulled some weird kind of guard, clinched against the fence to work for a takedown, and after failing he resorted to throw his patented bombs leaving him exposed. Also, he said could have lasted longer, never said he thought he could have won.
Would anybody else here say any differently? I certainly remember the multiple threads criticizing Travis Lutter about his preparation for his fight against Anderson.
He was found to be susceptible to exactly what Henderson was doing in the first round. And exactly what we all speculated needed to be done.
I see no evidence here of him being cocky, or making excuses for other fighters. It is what he perceived when he witnessed the fight. The subsequent criticism of this statement leads me to believe that other statements made by Matt which might hold merit to a harsh public reaction has in turn affected every statement he makes from here on out.

Once again the excuse train roles into town and MH of all people started it this time. I refuse to believe Hendo was not in shape and he was very prepared for this fight he just lost to the better guy. MH saw holes in Silva and says Hendo was not in shape, if he fought Silva conditioning would not even be a factor b/c the fight would not last that long IMHO.....

Matt Hughes has nothing to gain by making any kind of excuses for Dan, they aren't on the same team let alone probably friends. So why would he make any. Does he have a personal vendetta against Andersen? please.
People on this thread are taking his observations and twisting them to their own liking. Then finishing it off by saying how badly Anderson would destroy him. Say Pitbull says he sees some holes in his game, does he automatically have to fight him and expose those holes because he made a comment about them? But because Matt is a fighter he does? No. Just like I don't have to step up to the plate against Roger Clemens because I said he doesn't have what it takes anymore.

not really... matt hughes made another comment about another fighter not being in shape... he always has comments on others, and i think people are saying he should look at when GSP completely destroyed him, instead of talking crap about others.. simple as that

Matt Hughes is being a critique like 100% of all MMA fans. Of course we don't see him saying "I will move up to fight him" that of course might have been the case if he has continued to be the dominate 170 pounder but alas no more.
