Evan Tanner back this summer - Next Opponent?
In keeping with the long-haired fan favorite motif, I thought I'd pass on some Tanner info.
For his next fight, there's a date set and an opponent.
Who do you think it is?
Five Ounces of Pain | Evan Tanner: “Looks like I’ll be back in the Octagon this summer”
Quote:
In his most recent post on his website, former UFC middleweight champion, Evan Tanner has stated that UFC matchmaker, Joe Silva has given him both an opponent and date for his next fight.
From EvanTanner.net:
Just talked with Joe Silva, the UFC matchmaker. He gave me a date and an opponent. Looks like I’ll be back in the Octagon this summer.
It’s good to have a fight scheduled. The last two weeks have been really rough. I’ll tell the story on that in the next few days.
Tanner recently made a comeback to fighting after nearly a two year layoff at this month’s UFC 82. It proved to be unsuccessful as Tanner suffered a second round knockout to top UFC middleweight Yushin Okami.

I'd say give him Ed Herman, that would be a good fight.

I think a fight with Lebon would be good.

I would like to see him and Leben also. They both fought at 82, and Leben doesn't have any other fight coming up so it's definitely a possibility.
BTW, I would definitely want Tanner to win this one.

I think that after a two year lay off, especially one where he had deal with the type of demons that he has, Okami was too high a level a fighter for him to face. Leben would probably KO him too at this time, but i think Herman would be a good fight for him. If Okami doesn't get a title shot I'd like to see him and Hendo go at it.

Grove would be a win for Tanner, but I like Grove and don't want to see him lose a third straight. Maybe have him and Corey Hill meet in the middle at WW and have a battle of the beanpoles.

Tanner vs. Sakara is my guess...
