His supposed newfound bench press strength won't have any impact on the fight. If bench pressing was that much of an indicator on winning than Kevin Randleman would've been undefeated.

GSP twice as strong... i mean just the title sais it all, this is just for publicity or whatever.
GSP is probably stronger now then before, and to make a big deal about it they claim him to be twice as strong.
Im going all in on GSP half as strong or twice as strong, it dosnt matter. He wont lose twice to Serra.

he probably does'nt do that much more in terms of weight. Why should he? Everyone is making such a big deal about this being a bench press only improvement. If GSP has indeed improved his strength & conditioning training program he will be stronger overall, not just in a chest press. Watch GSP and his fight with Jason Miller. GSP looks much the same as he does now but he had a tough time keeping control of Mayhem. Fast forward to his submission victory over Hughes or his domination of Kos and its obvious he's become physically superior to his competition. Does this give him a harder head or stronger chin? Of course not, but it will give him confidence to take this fight to the ground if needed. It will also add power to his strikes.

I agree with his victory of Hughes this last time. He hip tossed Hughes like he was nothing, and that's not easy because Hughes is extremely well balanced and strong himself.
There was a marked improvement in GSP's strength on the ground.
I just don't know if that alone is enough. Serra is coming off a bad injury, but we also don't know what Serra is up to. We know Serra has a chip on his shoulder and will come to fight.
It's who's hungrier IMO for this one.
I kinda have the feelig that Serra is being treated like Apollo Creed after Rocky I
"Man I won, but I didnt beat him"
Even though Serra KTFO of GSP
It's gotta suck for Serra the last 10 months or so.

The back injury could be key. Once you experience something like that you have to change alot of your training to account for that. I don't think anyone outside of Serra's camp really knows the extent of that injuries effect on Serra. We all know what going on with GSP since he's the one getting all the attention from the media. Maybe Serra vs. GSP 1 was like Tyson/Douglas? No one expected that and afterwards Douglas went back to being what he always was. This fight is going to prove alot about both men.

gsp will take serra down with ease. his wrestling is the best in mma and serra has average takedown defense. gsp will be quicker and stronger and use that to get into a dominating position on the ground, and even if serra can defend against the sub, theres no way he'll be able to stop gsp punding his way to a stoppage

The only reason GSP beat Hughes is because Hughes was over training at the time. Hughes was so weak he could only eat a city breakfast. Ridiculous.
I'm saying it now for some reason I believe that Serra vs. GSP is like Rampage vs. Chuck. It's just a bad match up for GSP. I think Serra can beat him on his feet and I think he'll submit him on the ground.

I kinda agree. I was doing more than that when I was a Jr. in high school, and I HIGHLY doubt I'm stronger than GSP. Every time GSP loses we hear a bunch of stories about how he's so much better.

Georges is so over those 55 pound dumbells.
He actually wrote it down on a brick and threw it in a lake.
The fact that he used to struggle with those SOBs doesn't bother him at all anymore...
Watch out, Matt Serra.

Was GSP actually twice as strong in his victory over Serra? He certainly had enough strength and some left over to hold Serra down tight. Serra, who is a very talented BJJ black belt did'nt have an answer. Before GSP/Serra i went back and watched all of GSP's fights to watch his improvements. He has obviously gained alot of strength, power and skill since he first came to the UFC. I don't think anyone can dispute that.

I agree, and as big and strong a WW Fitch is, I still believe GSP will be able to take him down and control him. Also, I give GSP a decent edge in the striking game. Having said that, I see this fight going 4-5 rounds and possibly decision. This is the best possible match-up at WW IMHO.....

Yeah, I'm sure he has gained strength since coming to the UFC.
But this "story" was about him gaining a lot of strength since that loss to Serra.
Which is funny because I remember Marc Laimon's comments from when they were taping TUF 4. He said GSP was bigger and stronger than the middleweights on that show.
So I guess he's now as strong as the top light heavyweights?
By the time he fights Fitch he'll probably have the strength of a heavyweight, who knows.

This "story" was also for a health and fitness magazine which did'nt give any written details of his day to day workouts. Just some photos and an interview. I do find it interesting that GSP does seem to be miles ahead of his competition. Is it due to superior skill or just gifted genetics i don't know. I just find GSP's evolution interesting.
