Thats not going to win him the respect of the fans or fellow fighters. You either touch gloves or you don't. Personally i think the touch of gloves before the fight during the ref's instruction is enough. These guys are supposedly the best in the profession and should'nt need to resort to such tactics.

I've always disliked the touch after the bell. All one has to do is watch Penn vs Uno I to see why. That was a start to remember.

Me too.

I'm cool with them doing it in the first round, maybe in the last round of a 5 round fight, but when they do it in every round, I'm severely annoyed.
Not to mention those high fives during rounds. Followed by the "ahh, these warriors love to bang, baby" from Goldie/Rogan.

I have no idea why Manny would do that, not cool. In any case, I am just glad he didn't land anything significant with that move, I can't imagine if he actually had KO'd Cox when he caught him off guard.

But by making like he was going to touch gloves but pulled back at the last second to land the kick is cheap, plain and simple. In fact, Manny initiated the touch by raising his hand first, signaling his willingness to perform the move.

Personally, the touch of gloves at the start of each round is overdone and useless. So Anderson Silva bypassing it when he started the fight with Henderson was fine. But using the motion to get an advantage is cheap.
Dead on. It was a cheap and skeevie thing to do. I hope he gets his round little head pounded out in his next fight.

Manny has such a bright future ahead of him to. That is why this whole situation blows. And Gooner ya I hate when someone lands a good shot and the other one gives him a high five.

Not dirty at all

EDIT: Plus it looked like the intent was to touch which is good enough for me. I would prefer if they like casually waved or blew kisses at each other instead of touched gloves every round.
yea right.... its probably the dirtiest start to a fight ive ever seen... its disrepectful to the sport.. he should be fined at LEAST

I dont consider it a cheap shot because the kick sucked so bad.

A cheap shot is when you really had a good shot, that kick was worse than if Paula Abdul threw it.

Yeah I felt bad for Cox, he trains at my gym and I seen him training his ass off so I was really pulling for him. As for the cheap shot Manny tried to land it showed alot of dishonor and classlessness (sp?). -1 for Gamburyan.

**Edit** Just watched the fight and wow, what a douche. After the fight he does this little grunt/flex thing at Cox, another sign of disrespect. And then he goes on to thank God? Come on.

BTW what was Goldie talking about? "Jeff Cox trains up in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio." Not sure what part of Cleveland he's been too but it's definetly not beautiful here.

yep very poor sportsmanship and a very stupid thing to do. He must know that he would KO him with that kick and he should realise that people will not take that **** lightly.

Stupid and Stupid again.

That was dirty. It was unsportsmanlike. If Manny didn't want to touch he should not have made it seem like he wanted to. Or if he did want to touch, he should have backed off a second or two to let each fighter restart.

Just because certain things aren't in rules doesn't mean they can't be dirty.
This was a clear example.

Manny seems like the "short guy syndrome" type to me. I would have loved to see him get beat down in that fight. Ah well, he'll get it soon just like Karo did when he starts fighting better guys.

Geez, what a good way to get a larger fan base. I never liked Manny or Karo for that matter. Glad Karo and his spare tire got dropped.

EXACTLY! So don't put out your glove like you want to touch gloves, like Manny did, and suddenly try to cheapshot the guy when he puts his out in response to you.

The only time you could think this is NOT wrong is if you're 8-12 and still think in absolute black and white turns and have no compass of morality.

That family has a lot of big headed pieces of ****, I don't think I've ever been so glad that Karo lost.

Yeah that was pretty disrespectful of Manny, but why is everybody hating of Karo too, this thread isn't even about him, and to my knowledge he hasn't done anything disrespectful lately.
