That has nothing to do with anything. That was proven the last time around.
I like GSP, I really do. I agree he has some of the best rounded MMA game around. What IM NOT in agreement?
That he's some beast that needs to be feared. Serra is GSP's current test. GSP has alot of questions about his mental game right now.
ALOT of questions.

Rumor or true?

Huerta will be in St. Pierre's corner come Saturday night and says fight fans are in for a treat. "He looks even better than he did in his last fight against (Matt) Hughes," said Huerta.

They had a small mention about it over at Sherdog too, so it sounds like it.

What is Roger Huerta cornering really going to achieve for GSP? He isnt the most technically sound fighter, and seems to rely on his heart and chin to win alot of his fights.
Hes one of my favorite fighters, and I could be COMPLETELY wrong, but this doesnt make too much sense to me ?

But then again, they ARE kind of damned if they do/damned if they don't. Pulling out of a fight for anything less than being completely laid up is commonly complete "flame job" material (Lutter's comments on Franklin's pulling out of the Dec fight)....but going in half-cocked, is not much better.
By the same token, GSP is prodded for answers as to why he lost, says what is/was going through his mind and life and how it related to his prefight training & now somehow he's a whiney-bitch for admitting that he underestimated Serra and wasn't properly prepared. Serra constantly touts his underdog status & then is thin skinned enough to be that effected by someone agreeing with him. LOL
I mean seriously, before the KO...who honestly had Serra on their top 10 WW list? Top 20?
Honestly...no BS.
Yes, he is tough...Yes, at these upper levels any fighter can be dangerous on any given day...Yes, he had the proverbial puncher's chance always...But besides decisioning Shonie & then Lytle in the TUF series, where was he & what had he done in the prior few years? He really was not on the active WW radar prior to that "Comeback Season".
Without the TUF opportunity, I'd dare say that there was no way in hell, that Serra works his way up THROUGH the UFC WW ranks and earns a title shot. So from that stance, it's not totally ridiculous for GSP to have taken him a little bit lightly. Not smart...but not totally without base either.
The thing that I just don't get, is that Serra & others go on about how insulting those comments were...But really Georges' comments about taking Serra lightly are more insulting to himself, than to Serra. He's admitting that he trained poorly and was not on his game enough to realize what a real threat Serra was/is...and he's a dick for admitting that? That's more of a knock against himself, than against Serra. Admitting that he was short sighted enough to buy into his own hype-machine...That's actually a pretty big thing to admit, I would think.
Again, I ain't trying to stick my head so far up GSP's a**, that I can't see reality....but I just think that Serra's constant over reaction to those comments is more insulting that what Georges actually said. More "Mental Midget-esque" so to speak.
And honestly...what fighter ever says...."Well, I had a sh*tty training camp....my knee is a little f**ked....& a close relative died....but ya know, I'm just gonna go in there & try and see what happens". LOL J/K
But seriously...isn't it more p*ssy-ish to make a butt load of excuses first? Just in case you end up losing.

The problem is he said he was taking Serra seriously and training as hard as he could. Then after the fight, weeks later, he starts saying that he had a poor training camp and didn't take Serra seriously. Yes, he was constantly asked what happened. Does that mean that when he gave Serra all the credit and respect the first thousand times he was asked he was lying through his teeth because he all of the sudden starts up with the "poor training camp, etc" garbage. Sounds like he is trying to convince himself that was what it was and the better fighter didn't win that night, like he had said numerous times before. THis is what ticked Serra off and frankly I don't blame him. It was rather two faced of GSP.
Good to see GSP is finally pissed. He pissed Serra off almost a year ago. I think this is all GSP trying to convince himself. I wonder if he loses to Serra this time, will he start saying that he had a poor training camp?
