Whats next for Franklin???
To me the best thing to see would be a rematch with Loyoto. Rich needs a fight to get his confidence back. In is interview with Sherdog, when asked about fighting Silva you could tell he doesn't see any point in it himself. Who else would like to see Franklin/Machida fight? The only other guy to beat him I think it is perfect.

well machida is fighting tito in a month or 2 at 205.. so it wouldnt be for awhile and alot would need to happen... since rich cant beat silva, why not go back up to 205? theres really nothing at 185 for him, he can beat everyone in the division, but cant beat silva

Heh, I don't think that match-up would do much for Rich's confidence. Lyoto would pick him apart again. Not to mention they fight in 2 different weight classes and Rich has said a few times lately that he's not really interested in fighting @ 205.
Maia, Almeida, Bisping, Henderson are all decent choices for his next fight, but I think all of them would have decent chances of taking him out. Middleweight division is starting to fill out finally.

I want Hendo to get a nice high profile win. He deserves some state-side recognition.

I dont think he would beat Hendo but I think Lyoto will destroy him at 205. I would like to see him fight Marquadt though. I dont think there is another guy in the UFC at 185 that can take hime though

I was mainly talking about the weight jump because he said in his sherdog interview that he doesn't want to fight at 205 but would jump up in wieght to fight someone for a one time thing like he did against Ken.

Ya he when he said he would fight at 205 for a one off thing if the UFC asked him to, Machida immediately came to my mind. Would be a pretty tough fight for him though. Have to see what happens with Machida/Ortiz I guess.

Ironically, you could ask the same thing about Franklin before the Lutter fight or after his next fight. The fact is that when you are absolutely dominated twice by a champion, it's hard to get a third shot. Although I have read that he would prefer to avoid going back to 205 (the weight class in which he suffered his only non-Silva loss), it seems like he may be short on choices if he ever wants to get a title shot again. Of course, the LHW division is stacked and he would face an uphill climb there as well, but one or two marquee wins at a new weight class could revive his career. But if I had to pick a MW for him to fight, I'd say either Marqardt or Patrick Cote.

I agree. However there would be a decent chance for Hendo to lose and 3 losses in a row couldn't be good for him. I also think Patrick Cote would be a nice matchup as someone mentioned above.

I would honestly like to see him face Hendo and I would give him a half way decent chance to win. If not Hendo then Cote, Leben, or Bisping would be the fights I would like to see.....

I just read it somewhere that Franklin said there is almost no chance he is going back up to 205 unless its a big name that jumps out at him. That being said, I would love to see him fight Marquardt or Henderson. Too me Hendo/Franklin would still be a superfight which is rare in the Middleweight division.

Well, with Okami likely receiving the next title shot I think you have to determine the next #1 contender. To me that's a pretty clear match up between Marquardt and Franklin.
I could also easily see Hendo vs. Franklin, but I think they'll give Dan an easy fight first to get him a UFC win.

Franklin/Henderson is the fight I'd like to see most. Other possible interesting fights for Franklin would be against Marquart, Bisping, Cote, Leben, and perhaps a rematch with Quarry.

Just a sidebar, but man alive did Bisping look impressive at 185. He was fast, powerful, and looked to be cut out of wood. He's definitely at the right weight class now. I don't think he's ready to challenge for the title just yet, but he's poised to make some noise in that division.
