Default Kalib Starnes dropped by UFC

Five Ounces of Pain | Report: Kalib Starnes cut from UFC contract

Quote:
Report: Kalib Starnes cut from UFC Contract
"It looks like those who predicted that Kalib Starnes would no longer be with the UFC after his shameful performance in the Octagon at UFC 83 were correct. According to Yahoo! Sports, Starnes has been cut from his contract:

After losing a unanimous decision on scores of 30-26, 30-27, and an unheard-of 30-24, Starnes received even worse news: He was cut from his contract by UFC president Dana White.

“He just doesn’t belong in the UFC and after his performance the other night, he should consider a new line of work,” White said Monday.

Ouch. That hurts. If there’s one thing that Dana White hates more than anything, it’s guys who don’t come to fight or guys who put on boring fights. Starnes didn’t come to fight on Saturday and spent the whole fight running away from Quarry, who was brutalizing Starnes whenever he had the chance. I have no doubt that another promotion will pick Starnes up, but this should be a lesson to him."

Shocking....

Another poster just jogged my memory about the end of the Belcher/Starnes fight. It ended with a doctor stoppage (cut), but at the very end Starnes was screaming at his corner because he felt that they were questioning his heart (whether they knew it was a doctor stoppage and not his, I don't know). But, given Shamrock's comments, the Belcher ending and now this...something is up with Mr. Starnes.

This was no suprise. I respect anyone that gets in the cage, but when you perform like that, you don't even deserve a fight, let alone a PPV fight w/ the biggest MMA orginization in the world.

Not surprised in the slightest.
I watched UFC83 with my bro-in-law and we both said we'd be shocked if he ever fought in the UFC again.

Looks like Shamrock was right!

Does Kalib have his own web page?
I'm curious to see if he comes back with a response to this.

Someone on the Dog radio earlier said Starnes was on the radio after the fight saying he did it in protest of his pay and not being used enough, and that the only reason he was booked on this card in the first place was because he was canadian.

Heh what a moron. See you in TKO!

What I can't believe is when Quarry was clowning around with his hand on his face and arm stuck through the other, Kalib could have come and hit him with anything he wanted, but he STILL kept running away.

I know. People that show boat usually get humble a few seconds later. It didn't happen and now Starnes is paying the ultimate price. Unemployment .

I don't understand Kalib. I remember on TUF show he was complaining about some rib injury thinking it was broken and "quit".

Then he comes into the UFC, is hot and cold. Now just crazy.

I mean I really thought he was gonna put Nate away. BUt he just ran the whole fight.

It's just sad. In front of his home crowd no less.

Really, Interesting. You don't have a link to Starne's motive, do ya?

He got what he deserved. I actually thought Starnes would give Nate a run for his money.

Sadly sadly mistaken.

I dont know how he couldve expected anythin else other than to get his contract terminated after those antics on saturday. Wearing an opponent down by making him do the work.....i can understand.....flat out running for 15mins....me no likey!

honestly thought he would give Quarry trouble, plus lost some of my measly points on him, so basically good riddance hope its a lesson he learns from and comes out fightin full throttle in future contests!
