Jason "Dooms" Day
Did anyone else catch his fight at 83 ? He looked pretty good. Showed some very good dirty boxing and a killer rubber guard. Fight may have been stopped a little early but Belcher was not really doing anything but taking punches to the head. Not gonna jump on his bandwagon right away , but Day could have a promising future.

His rubber guard was pretty sick. I can't recall seeing someone use it so effectively and he didn't lie about using his elbows either. The standing elbows he threw after they got back to their feet were the beginning of the end, he smelled blood and finished. I was impressed.

Jason "Dooms" DayMan....aaa-haaaaa
I didn't see the fight. What happened w/the elbows?
Speaking of elbows....I don't know much about Day but he did beat "The Crow" earlier this year.

Lawl, Champion of the sun!!
He used his elbows quite effectively when he had Belcher in his rubber guard, it really seemed he was doing some damage off of his back. When they stood back up he wailed on Belcher with a few more which rocked him, then he just attacked until Big Dan stopped it.

The rubber guard is very under used in both BJJ and MMA. It was very surprising to see it in action, as well as the damage that can be inflicted on your opponent while he's in that guard. Eddie Bravo would be proud!

Yeah I'm pretty sure he beat him by a split decision.

I won't jump on his bandwagon either, but he showed a great rubber guard in the clinch, like you mentioned. It's something that isn't used too often. There are aspects of his game that look like he sometimes leaves himself open to get KO'd. Never the less, he definetely shows promise in the UFC and as long as he continues to improve his game.
ps. Rich Franklin should watch this fight and take notes on how to get out of the clinch...

Just watched it, and yes, that rubber guard was sick. This was the first fight I've seen where I was like, "WTF is that??" and then it was explained to me that he was using the oft-mentioned rubber guard. Very nice and highly effective in this instance. Interesting that it is used so little.

BJ Penn and Serra is using it now and then and some other guys.
Take a look at Penn vs MH II first round to see how Penn does it.
