UFC 84 Odds ...
Did a quick preliminary search to see what the UFC 84 betting odds are going to be. Here is what I found:
Quote:
BJ Penn vs. Sean Sherk odds
* BJ Penn (-210)
* Sean Sherk (+170)
Lyoto Machida vs. Tito Ortiz
* Lyoto Machida (-220)
* Tito Ortiz (+180)
Wanderlei Silva vs. Keith Jardine
* Wanderlei Silva (-155)
* Keith Jardine (+125)
|
These are interesting odds IMO, and I am going to have trouble betting on any of them! let me know what your takes are on them! Heres my confusion:
BJ/Sherk. BJ is the favorite, and IMO will win, but his cardio is lacking, and sherk ... hmm.
Lyota/Ortiz... Machida is unbeaten thus far, but Tito is an animal when he wants to be, and plans on leaving the UFC regardless, hes gotta be ready to put on a show, and as an underdog? Hmmm
Wandy/Jardine .... Jardine>Chuck>Wandy MMAmath at its best, and hes an underdog. Will he shock us again? Ahhhhhh
Alright ladies and gents, break this down for me. Who are you gonna be betting on and why

still not sure about Penn and Sherk, if it ends up good odds might take a risk on sherk even tho i think BJ will beat him.
Other too are absolute picks for me, Lyoto and Wandy!

I'll be going with Bj, Ortiz, and probably Wandy. Not quite sure about the Jardine Wandy fight yet, cause the only way I see Jardine winning is by decision because I just don't see him knocking him out. And I think there is a better chance of Wandy by KO.

Penn/Sherk - BJ will take Sherk down and will beat him decisively. A long, short night for Sherk. (No pun intended there )
Machida/Ortiz - Ortiz is going to be eating so many potshots in this one, he'll be shooting for takedowns from 20ft away by the 3rd round. I've got Machida.
Jardine/Silva - As much as I'd love to see "the old" Silva, I have a sinking suspicion that he's long gone. Jardine is a larger man, probably stonger, and certainly less battered. I like Jardine to take this one.

BJ looked phenomenal against Joe Daddy, and he's even more motivated to beat Sherk.
BJ has better striking (just ask GSP)
BJ has better BJJ (not even a question)
BJ has sick, sick, sick takedown defense (just ask Hughes)
I have a hard time seeing how Sherk could win this one.

Damn you. That was my post.
BJ & Lyoto = easy money.
I'm afraid Jardine will be able to use his reach advantage against Wandy the same way Chuck did, take a decision, and poor old Wandy will probably go 0-4 his last 4 fights.
I really hope Wandy can land one of those haymakers though and put Jardine away. He did have Chuck in trouble too, and I don't think Jardine has Chuck's chin.
I know I'll really enjoy seeing Tito and Sherk get dominated in this one. A KO-win for Wandy would make it a perfect night.

I don`t know about Penn.
I am more scared of him loosing then I am happy for him winning.
This is usuall a bad sign. I think the Sherk got the style to beat Penn.
I just don`t want Sherk to win. , but Sherk can be a machine.
I see the Wandy fight being a close one but I will be sad if Silva ends up with 0-4.He really need a win soon.
My favorit fighter Machida, I cant really see him loosing this one, but I have not seen his heart being tested so far. I think Ortis might be the one to do that if he don`t get picked a part from Machidas stand up in the beginning.
This is the event I am really looking forward to the next few month. Gonna be great no matter who wins.

Penn
Machida
Wandy
This is how I'll bet and who I'll root for! Would make for an awesome night if all three win.

All true, but don't forget that Sherk does have an advantage and that is his superior cardio. If the fight goes into a fourth and fifth round Penn might be in trouble. Sherk is a machine, he'll keep the same pace for an entire 5 rounds - the question is if the fight goes the distance will Penn be able to keep up?

I'm with FatCat on his picks here...though I think Sherk isn't a pushover.

Im thinking
BJ
Tito
No Bet on Wandy/jardine
-BJ cause hes my boy and those are decent odds to come up on some points.
-Tito for the underdog odds, and hes an OG and has something up his sleeve, hes leaving the UFC to go fight Frank Shamrock and if he loses here he knows his paycheck wont be as big vs Frank. Plus he wants to rub it in Dana's face, not the other way around.
-Not going to bet on Wandy/Jardine. Jardine seems bigger and younger and still getting better. Wandy is getting old, and my heart wants him to win and take this, but my brain says Jardine could pull out a decision again.
