I wouldn't out it past them to leak this on purpose and see what kind of reaction they get across the 'net. Its pretty widely accepted that Zuffa has a few employees that monitor the MMA internet community.
Thus in the end, this may not be the final decision in this.
But its likely PPV only again.
I'll be watching it the next morning as I do for many events. $50 a month may not be much for some, but like others, that hit every month along with the normal family costs (mortgage, bills, 4 year old daughter), my golf hobby, and pretty much monthly tickets to an MMA show of some sort while living in the one of the most expensive metro areas (NYC) makes that monthly costs a bit much.

I can understand people skipping this one because its so close to 84, same thing with skipping 80 and getting 81, but 50.00 a month regularly isnt alot to watch your favorite sport.
If Spike had HD capabilities this would all be null and void thou, as even during the PPV's you get some sorry ass commercials. GOOD LUCK CHUCK

Even though every other professional sport (NFL, NHL, MLB, etc.) is widely available for free on a weekly (or daily basis)...$50/month (or every few months) is a decent amount for some people. $5/gallon gas is coming this summer!
The whole PPV vs. free debate is parallel to the future of MMA (and the UFC more specifically). Do MMA orgs want to be like boxing (PPV) or like major league sports? Or is the goal to be a hybrid?

I thought I heard somewhere that Spike was going to get HD... Not sure if it was a post here or an article I read. It may just not be in time for this event.
I'm going to try and hunt down the article/post that I had seen this...
Found a similar article but it says first 1/4 of 08...

Very stupid idea to keep this a PPV. They would be better off putting it on Spike as the event would surely generate high ratings and thus it would serve to give the UFC more exposure. An event like this without a strong main event is not worth putting on PPV because there is no way it's going to generate a high buyrate, especially considering how close it is to UFC84. Stupid move UFC.

I was wondering what the hell you guys were talking about. I have DirecTV, and I've got Spike HD right now. The Ultimate Fighter looks pretty good in HD.

What kind of viewing figures do the US get if the event is held in the UK(in relation to an event being held in North America)?
Do they ever give out the different figures for the East/West Coast?

However, just because $50 is not alot of money to you, it can be to alot of other people. But Im very happy that its not for you, congratulations.
