Top British welterweight Dan Hardy (19-6-0) has signed a four-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Fighters Only can exclusively reveal.
Sources close to Hardy and the UFC said the organisation intends to make Dan "as big as Michael Bisping", although no official announcement of the deal has been made as yet.
It was recently reported that Hardy was on the verge of signing a lucrative deal with EliteXC, home to Kimbo Slice and hardy's stablemate Paul Daley.
However, negotiations with the UFC continued and the deal was finalised in recent weeks with Hardy expected to make his first UFC appearance some time in the autumn.
Hardy recently returned from a successful outing in a Japanese tournament and has beaten UFC veteran Chad Reiner and tough European welterweight Daniel Wiechel in recent weeks.
Neither Hardy nor his management were available to comment on the deal at the time of going to press.

Great news imo! Although I think Dan maybe a little small for some of the UFCs welterweights, I still think he'll make for some great fights there. Id like to have seen what he could do at 160lbs but oh well.

Id also love to see him against someone like Paul Kelly or Paul Taylor but I think they've both got fights coming up.
*edit* I wouldnt be surprised at all if they rematched Hardy and Yoshida actually. Id imagine Dan would be all over that if they offered it to him.
Actually I agree that Paul Kelly would be a good fight, and just today on mmaweekly I read that Goulet will probably have to pull out of his fight with Taylor at 85 because of health reasons or something. I doubt they would give Hardy his first fight on short notice though.

Yeah, he looks really small for WW. Throw him in there against another striker and I think we should be looking at a highlight reel KO. He's shown that he can provide them and with the way he leaves his chin hanging out there, I think he could easily be on the receiving end as well. Let's see him and Anthony Johson go at it.

Yeah, if they're looking to build him up, they'll feed him a few cans first. They definitely wouldn't risk putting him in there with Johnson as one of the WW they're really looking to build up would get an L.

Whenever this thread is shown as the most recently posted in on the main categories page, it always says UFC Sign Dan "The - and then it cuts off - I keep thinking that they've signed "The Beast" to a new contract until I actually click the link
