Default buying UFC vids

Was just looking into buying some more UFC videos or preferably DVDs and I much prefer those where they didn't have all the rules so does anyone know when the UFC brought all their crappy rules in? eg. year and UFC vol numbers?

I am looking to buy the UFC 1-5 box set, anyone know where I can find this. Tried Amazon, HMV and Virgin.

Thanks in advance

You wont be able to get the early stuff on DVD, just VHS. When Zuffa bought the UFC, the rules changed so it could be sanctioned.

Check out your local best buy. See if they have anything there. I know mine has a ton of UFC and Pride. Even check out a blockbuster or some type of video rental store. They may not have the best selection, but its cheap

So when did Zuffa buy it then? anyone know?
I reckon he messed it up. There are lots of fighting and contact sports out there and UFC used to be 'THE ULTIMATE' but it's just not the same anymore. What you think?

Tried Ebay - No luck. BB - No luck.
I did see it a while back in HMV on Oxford Street so i'll probs pop down there and have a look.

Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure when Zuffa bought it. I think in the late 90's. Before Zuffa bought it the UFC was under intense pressure from lawmakers and specifically senator John McCain. They thought it was barbaric and was trying to insist that it was much more dangerous than boxing. Zuffa came along and changed a few of the rules so that it could be sanctioned by the Nevada state athletic commision. Or other state athletic commisions. Thats why MMA and the UFC has been gaining steady momentum ever since.

At least thats what I thought happened Correct me if I'm wrong.

January 2001. The first sanctioned PPV event was Feb 2001. Not sure which number UFC though but you could figure it out by checking old videos and DVDs.

I was actually just going to post this question, before I saw this thread but does anyone know or has anyone heard if there are any plans to put these old UFC's on DVD at some point? I have almost all the recent events that are on DVD as was going to start buying the videos. I rather not if they are going to come out on DVD at some point.

I was going to ask if Zuffa bought the rights from SEG for the early UFC's.
I know at least thru UFC 22 (F. Shamrock/Tito) it was still SEG.
