TUF= Titles Unavailable Forever
Seriously though what is Dana White and Co. thinking? This has to be at least the third time they are going to be putting a title on hold, due to having the fighters as coaches on their TV Show. The UFC's HW division is bad enough as it is, and now there isn't going to be a title defense for it until December? Give me a break! It is gonna be great seeing Mir vs. Nog for the title though!

The only good thing about this is they have time to build up the next challenger, be it Vera, Kongo, Napao, Werdum, etc. All guys can fight atleast once before, and then maybe have a #1 contenders fight on the undercard of Nog/Mir.
PS. Glover Teixera needs to be on this season

Aside from tying up the titles unnecessarily, I think TUF has outlived it's usefulness. Wasn't the UFC cutting it's ranks because the couldn't provide fights for all the contracted fighters?

I agree with all of this. I guess in the following season we'll see Anderson Silva and Okami as coaches, and we'll have to wait a year for a title match in yet another class lol.

Now that would be hilarious. A Japanese guy who speaks no English, and a Brazilian who barely speaks English trying to coach a bunch of Americans who most likely only speak English. Only way that would be more comical is if they have Havok on as a guest interpreter.

OR it could be the first all-international TUF: Japan vs Brazil!
Now, that could be cool. TUF really needs an all-Europe/Eurasia show. That would rock.

Christ.
Mir gets a title shot? In about a year?
AND he's gonna annoy me on TUF too, with his umm-ahh-talk?
Seeing Nog up close like that will be interesting, but Nog's winning this fight no question. Mir gasses in the 1st/2nd round and then Nog will pick him apart. Hopefully he'll finish him 'cause I'd really hate to see them hug each other for 5 rounds.

Personally, I think the choice of coaches is great, two guys you could actually see being good teachers and it will be interesting to see how they train. However I cant see it being too good for ratings, I think they will lose a lot of the casual viewers who like entertaining/funny coaches and the reality element of the show.
Another minor gripe, I do prefer just one weight class per series and the lightweight division is already far too confusing and stacked to add more in.

First thing I was thinking was, cool, I`ll get to see Nog with his great BJJ, how he trains and we finaly get som culture mixed into the show wich is a great thing if you ask me.
The title on hold and the daft match they are setting up is a huge insult to me.Mir don`t deserve a title shot at all. It is a shame how badly the HW div. is looking now having 1 top fighter in Nog.
I belive Nog will be great for the show and can`t see language being even a small problem.I had a Russian coach in icehockey with not to good eng but it worked out. All it takes is some will from bouth sides.
At the opther hand I went to Brasil and learned to understand peole myself in a few months. Brasillian people don`t give up until you understand them. They will wave with arms and do whatever to make you understand them.
This might be a good experience for the fighters aswell.
Make them learn about some other colture
The world don`t end in USA

Im getting sick of the whole "contender v champ coaching on TUF" business, it just delays fights imo. You'd think they'd have learnt after TUF6.
And in no way does Mir deserve a title shot. OK He looked good against Hardonk and Lesnar but neither are top10 and that shouldnt be enough to earn him a title shot in "the superbowl of MMA".
TBH I see Nog winning this fight fairly easily. Everything Mir does, Nog goes better imo.

They'll keep feeding this waiting game crap and we'll keep eating it up, I guess.
Meanwhile, you have a tournament going on in DREAM and in the IFL there are three title fights every couple of months...

I don't post about TUF often and am not a fan of the show or the concept of it at all but this is just too much. Are we really looking at December for the fight ? So we all have to wait six months for the HW division to progress for this stupid show... This match up should be sweet though.. Go Mir go !

Gotta love having one title fight per weight class once a year. God forbid we ever make somebody defend it on a regular occasion!

Mir does'nt deserve a title shot. The only reason Mir is getting the chance at this is because he is riding high on his victory over Lesnar and the UFC wants to take advantage of that. Use the man who beat the pro-wrestler to attract the pro-wrestling crowd. Not that i think Mir has any chance of beating Big Nog.

I doubt there will be a lot of new watchers simply because somebody beat Lesnar. I used to watch wrestling fairly frequently, and unless I've missed something recently, the two communities are still segregated to a good degree. I think that 80% of the draw will be for Nog as Mir's popularity has been sketchy at best lately due to some poor performances a few years ago.
That's probably a lot of the reason that Mir isn't given much of a shot here. He's been very inconsistent lately, and even on his best days he doesn't really shine. Nog on the other hand, can have a really ****ty day and still wipe the floor with half the heavyweights in the UFC roster.

I agree with everybody about hating that they put the titles on hold for this long. However, since they are going to do it anyway I think that the heavyweight division would be their best choice given that there aren't that many fighters in it right now and this will give them time to sort who the next #1 contender is.

I cant wait to see the team selection for this. I wonder whose team I would prefer to be on, one of the all time greatest fighters alive, with unreal BJJ, crisp boxing, solid cardio, and the heart of a lion, or a guy with poor at best striking ability, non existent cardio, and "solid" BJJ, but not as good as the other coach.
Nog should pull a BJ, that would be awesome

I simply can't wait for the strategies of two very good jiu jitsu players and BTW, good fighters as coaches.
That's what intrigues me most.
